He's Back

Well...that didn't go as she planned and well, she couldn't do anything about it. She locked the door and grabbed a bottle of water, then went back upstairs. Now she definitely wouldn't be sleeping. Until the kids had to wake up for school in the morning, she would start to pack some of his things away, so he could just take them and wouldn't have to be there long. She looked down at her ring for a moment and just shook her head, took it off and put it on the counter before going to grab a box to put his clothes in. It would be a long night.

Scott came over very early that next morning. Like, five in the morning early. He made his way up the stairs to see if Ellie was awake, but when he went in the hallway, he saw some boxes with his stuff in them. He had left because he needed space and time to think, and he'd decided that Ellie was right, they would work out. But it seemed like Ellie had done the thinking for them. Sighing, he went to pick up one of the boxes.

Ellie had grabbed another small box and was going to put them out in the hallway with his other stuff, when she saw him. "...didn't expect to see you until much later." Jesus, if he came this early, then Ellie was sure that he definitely wanted to leave and be done with her.

"I came to talk to you... but it seems as if you're done talking." He shrugged a little.

She was just confused at this point and a little frustrated. She rubbed her temples a bit. "I don't know what I'm doing." she said. "You left and I figured that you were done and if you were done, then you wouldn't want to be around me at all tomorrow or whatever...so I was trying to help. You know I don't want you to go, I was only doing it for you." she said as she tried to keep herself together. She hadn't cried yet, but she was close to...he could probably see because she was tearing up and rubbed at her eyes to pretend that she had an itch.

And of course, he felt like shit for making her cry. "I left because I needed time to think. And at first, I'd decided that you were right, we could make it and so I came back... but seeing you like this, crying over me." he shook his head. "That's why I came to this conclusion, El. I don't want to see you cry, not over me."

"Scott, I'm going to ask you something and I want you to answer honestly and without thinking about it. Give me the first thing that pops into your head when I ask." she sighed and reached for his hand to hold it and faced him. "Do you want to be with me?" she asked.

"You know I do." he told her.

"Then stop over thinking it and beating yourself up for not being here or whatever. I already told you that I deserve you and we're going to work it out. If I cry, then let me cry...it's better than not crying at all. It would seem like I didn't care about our relationship. I want you, I love you and I'm not going to let you leave again tonight."

"Hell of a lot easier said than done, baby." he shook his head, pulling his hand from hers gently.

She shook her head. "Well then I don't know what else to do." she sighed, feeling defeated as she just moved away from him and looked away. "Your stuff is in the boxes and everything else, I guess I'll pack up for you throughout the week." she nodded.

He sighed and pulled her to him, wrapping his arms around her. "I feel like I've failed you."

"But you didn't." she muttered against his chest. "I have never once complained to you about anything you've done...well, I don't think anything serious anyway." she chuckled a little as she sniffled. "You've been so good to me and have never done anything wrong. We're happy Scott and nothing was going wrong for once in my life."

"You got to promise me that you're gonna tell me when I make you unhappy, baby. I want to fix it."

"I promise." she said. "I'll tell you if you ever make me unhappy."

He made her look up at her, wiping her tears away with the pad of his thumb. "I'm sorry for making you cry."

She shook her head and gave him a small smile. "It's okay." she said. "As long as you're here to fix it, then it's all okay.'

He leaned down to kiss her gently. "Still kicking me out?"

"No way." she said after she kissed him back.

He grabbed her ringless left hand and rose a brow at her.

She shrugged a little. "I thought we were done, so I took it off to give back to you when you came to get your stuff."

"Well we're not, so you should put it back on." He told her, letting go of her hand.

"Done deal." she nodded as she went into one of the boxes and grabbed the ring box, taking the ring out and putting it back on. "Much better."

He nodded. "Much better. You look exhausted, I'll take you to bed."

"It's fine. Maddie and Ajay get up in a few for school anyway."
