He's Back

Now they're happy he's home. lol. "I'm sure," he chuckled and laughed at Ajay. "Tell you what, when I finish unpacking, we'll play with your action figures. Deal?"

"Deal." Ajay grinned and pretty much leaped up to hug Colt tightly, lol.

Maddie went to hug him too. "You have to share Daddy with me, Ajay.'

"No, I love him more!"

"No! I do." she said as they both hugged Colt to death, lol.

Ellie was on her way back to the room and heard them yelling, lol. "What in the world?"

"Oh, God." Colt chuckled, hugging them both back a lot more gently, lol. "I love you guys both the same, now ease up."

"Fine." they said as they both let him go. "I'll get my toys ready." Ajay ran off. Maddie followed.

"Better now?" Ellie asked as she leaned against the doorway and folded her arms across her chest.

He watched them run off and sighed a little. Didn't even answer her question, just, "I don't think we should get married."

She immediately frowned. "What? Why not?"

"Because we just shouldn't." he sighed and stood up, going to grab his keys. "I need to go for a drive."

She nodded a bit. "Okay."

He sighed and left. He'd be out for a while.

She let out a sigh and called the kids over so she could get them to take a bath, have a little snack, then put them to bed. She wasn't mad at Colt or anything, sure she was surprised, but she had told him time and time again that if he ever felt overwhelmed with something or whatever the case be, she would understand. She just wanted to know where his head was at so she could get a better understanding...but she would let him be until he was ready to talk to her.

Some time had passed and she managed to get Maddie and Ajay showered and let them have a little snack before bed.

"My bed? Or do you guys want to try to sleep in your bed tonight?"

"...your bed?" Maddie asked.

"Tomorrow we sleep in our bed." Ajay nodded.

She chuckled a bit and nodded, putting them to lay down in their bed. She covered them up and put the tv on for them. "I'm going to take a quick shower, I'll be right back." she said, kissing their foreheads. They nodded and Ellie went to shower. When she was finished, she came out and saw that they fell asleep, so she turned off the tv and just got under the covers with them, attempting to sleep as well.

A few hours later, Scott came back. He went upstairs and saw Ellie and the kids asleep in her room, so he tipped quietly out and went downstairs. He'd watch tv or something while they slept.

She woke up a couple minutes later and just shook her head. Ellie couldn't really sleep, she kept tossing and turning, so she just figured she would go to the kitchen and get a cup of water or something. She made sure the kids were sleeping before heading downstairs and when she went downstairs, she saw that the tv was on and that Colt was back. "How long have you been back for?" she asked.

He looked over at her. "A few minutes." he said. "I thought you were asleep."

"I was but I couldn't really sleep." she chuckled a bit. "So I came to get some water or something." she nodded. "...want anything?"

"I'm okay." he said. "I'm going to get out of your hair tomorrow."

"Scott, talk to me." she told him. "What's going on?"

He shook his head and looked down. "I'm just... I can't be the man that you need me to be."

She frowned and went over by him, sitting on the couch. "What are you talking about?"

"Madison and Ajay were mad at me today because I was gone for so long. They said that they were afraid that I was going to be just like AJ." He shook his head. "So if they're fed up with me then I can only imagine how you feel. You left AJ because he was never around, and here I am, never around. So I figured I'd save you the heartache and stop this before we got married. I don't know what I was thinking, even asking you. You deserve a man that's always around for you, the kids, and everything that happens with you guys. Good and bad. I can't give that to you." he looked over at her, dejected. "I don't even know why I came back here. I'm gonna go get room or something... I'll come back for my clothes tomorrow." he told her, getting up and heading towards the door.

"Scott, stop." she told him. "Can I even get a word in before you make this decision?"

"You're going to try to get me to stay." he told her. "As as much as I would love to, I've seen this happen before. Remember Punk and Lacy? How he was barely around and she got fed up and left him? It nearly ruined them. I don't want that to happen with you and I. At least if it happens this way, I still have a shot at maintaining a friendship with you, Ellie."

"That was Punk and Lacy." she told him. "First off, you couldn't imagine how I feel. I know that you are nothing like AJ, okay? With you, I'm perfectly fine when you have to go away for days to work, yes...I miss you and vice versa, but I know that you always come back and make up the time. At least I can still talk to you and call you and so on, unlike AJ. I left him because yes, he was never around...but also because he didn't bother to check up on us or anything. You do that, Colt. You call me and talk to the kids and you they're not even yours, but you treat them as if they are your own kids. You've been around for more things in their life, than their own father." she sighed. "Secondly, I think I definitely deserve you. If I felt like you were never going to be around or felt frustrated, I would have never even bothered. I'm here though, right? I'm not going anywhere." she told him.

"I'm not going to force you to stay if you don't want to." she said. "If you want to go, then I won't stop you." she shrugged. "I wouldn't want to force you to do anything you don't want to do. However, I will wait for you until you want to be with me again, even if it's until the day I die. I would like it if you did stay though...because I love you and I know we'll be fine. Maddie and Ajay just don't understand the whole schedule still and I'll have to explain it to them more and more, but they'll be fine." she sighed. "It's up to you at this point. I said what I have to say."

He sighed and went over to kiss her forehead, looking down at her. "...I'm sorry. I'll be back tomorrow."

She nodded. "Yeah, see you then."

He sighed a little and left the house.
