He's Back

It was a rainy evening in Chicago...and well, Ellie couldn't really take the kids out in this weather, so they stayed in. Not like they'd want to go out anyway, after the kidnapping, they sometimes preferred staying home instead and when they did stay home, they stayed by their Mommy at all times. Sleep? They could only sleep if they slept with Mommy in her bed. Now that Scott was around since moving in, they stuck by him too...but well, they still didn't understand his schedule, so when he had to leave for a month...they took it kind of hard. However, they were progressing. Maddie and Ajay were more talkative now and getting back to their old selves. Anyway, since they couldn't go out...Maddie took it upon herself to think of something for them to do. Ajay had to help of course. She grabbed some cookies and juice boxes, bringing them to her room and putting them on her play table. She then set up her table nicely and took off her sweater, leaving her in her short sleeved white t-shirt...and then grabbed a purple tutu (that "ally" bought her for her birthday)...and snapped it on, over her sweats. She made Ajay put on a tie, which he rolled his eyes at.

"Mommy!" she called out.

Ellie had walked into Maddie's room and laughed a little, seeing that Maddie had set up her own version of a tea party. "Yes?"

"Come sit and have a tea party with me and Ajay." she said as she patted an empty chair.

Ellie chuckled and nodded. "I would love to." she said.

"Wait Mommy..." Maddie said as she handed her something. "You gotta put it on and dress up like a pretty princess...like me."

She chuckled and put on the pink tutu over her sweats. "Anything you want." she said as she sat down.

"Now, tea party!" Maddie grinned as she handed Ellie a juice box and a cookie. Ajay took like five cookies, lol.

Scott had gotten out of the cab and paid the driver, dragging his bags behind him. He unlocked the door and made his way in. "El?" he called, going upstairs before seeing them all in Madison's room. He smirked, amused. "Why was I not invited?" he asked, leaning in the doorway.

She didn't hear him when he called for her before, so when he spoke...she kind of jumped, lol. Scared the hell out of her. She turned in her chair looking over at him and rose a brow...a bit surprised. "Uh....because you weren't supposed to be home for another couple of days." she chuckled a little. After that, well...she ran went up to him and went to hug him, lol.

Maddie and Ajay just looked at each other and kept to themselves, continuing to eat their cookies and drink their juice.

He laughed a little and hugged her back, kissing the side of her head. "I managed to get out of the last few dates." he looked over at the kids. "Hey guys." he grinned. "I'm home."

She nodded and then pulled away so the kids could go greet him.

"...hi Scotty." they both said as they walked up to him.

He rose a brow. They seemed so happy before he walked in. "Did I do something?" he laughed a little, leaning down to greet them.

"Nope." Maddie said.

"Uh, it's just...we ran out of cookies and juice for you." Ajay said.

"oh..." he nodded. "Well, you guys go ahead with your party, I have to get unpacked anyway." he said as he stood up

"Kay." Maddie said and pulled Ajay's arm, dragging him back to the table.

Ellie looked over at them confused. Hm. "Well, you go unpack and I'll figure out what's going on with those two."

"Nah, it's cool." he shook his head and picked his bags up. "I guess I'll see you when you're done." he said, going to their room. Sad scott was sad lol.

She pouted. Poor baby, lol. She went back over to the table and glanced at the two of them. "Talk."

Ajay looked at Maddie, then at Ellie. "He go away like Daddy, for a long time."

"Daddy Scotty is going to be like Daddy and leave us forever. He was gone for a very long time and we're mad." she said as she folded her arms across her chest and huffed.

Ellie shook her head. "Well, he was away for a long time...but he's back and is here now. He's not going to be like your Daddy at all." she told them. "You know Scotty loves you guys very much and would never leave you guys. He has to make money and work and sometimes it'll be for a long time, but he'll come back."

Maddie sighed. "I knowwwww."

"Then if you know, I think you two have a lot of explaining to do. You made Daddy very sad."

"No sad." Ajay frowned.

"Then go talk to him."

"Okay." Maddie said. "Come on Ajay."

Maddie and Ajay left her room and headed over to Colt and Ellie's room. "Daddy?"

Scott was busy unpacking when Maddie and Ajay walked in. "Hey guys." he looked back to finish unpacking his stuff. "Your Mommy's not in here." Why would they want to have anything to do with him.

"We know." Maddie said.

"We wanna talk to you." Ajay nodded.

He looked over at them. "Yeah? What's up?"

They looked at each other and Ajay shoved Maddie up so she could go in the room. "We were being mean before when you came in." Maddie said.

"Yeah, it's just...we were kinda upset with you." Ajay said.

He sat at the edge of the bed. "Why? What'd I do?" he asked.

"You went away and left us for a long time." Maddie said.

"We thought you no come back and leave us like Daddy did."

He blinked. "Guys... I would never just leave you like that." he told them. "But I have to work so I can make money."

"We know...but that was really a long time."

"We thought you go a long time because you no want to be here with us anymore." Ajay said.

Maddie sighed. "We're stupid."

"You're not stupid." he told her. Although it did give him some things to think about. "I know why you guys would think that, but I would never leave you guys alone like that." he told them. "I promise."

"We know now." Maddie nodded. "I'm sorry."

"Me too." Ajay said.

"It's cool, you guys." he said. "Don't even worry about it."

"...are you mad at us?"

"No." he shook his head, kissing the tops of their heads. "I'm not mad at you."

"You sureeeeee?" Maddie asked. Like her mother, lol.

"Cause we happy you back!" Ajay grinned. "Mommy try to play with me and my action figures, but she's a girl." Ajay shook his head.
