Spending Time with their Daddy

It had been a while since the kids had spent time with AJ and now that he was in town, they would be spending the weekend with him. Ellie was on the way to the hotel where he was staying at, going to drop them off. Once she got there, she went to the lobby and told the receptionist to let him know they were there and they nodded, calling him to let him know. She sat in the lobby with Maddie and Ajay, waiting for AJ to come down.

AJ was ecstatic to get the call that the kids were here. Yeah, the divorce was rough...but he wasn't really surprised. And he knew Ellie and the kids deserved to be a lot happier than what he was giving them. HE left his championship belt in the hotel room and headed down to the lobby. He got out of the elevator and grinned, jogging over to them. "Hey guys." he smiled warmly.

"Daddy!" they both yelled out as they ran towards him.

He caught them both and picked them both up. "God I missed you two." he said sincerely. He always felt like shit that he couldn't be there for them as much, but that was his life...then again, maybe some things needed to change.

"We missed you too." Maddie said as she wrapped her arms around his neck in a hug.

"Yeah, we miss you." Ajay said, doing the same.

Ellie chuckled a little at them. "Hi AJ."

He smiled softly, hugging them a bit more before setting them down. "Hey Ellie." he smiled. "How you been?"

"I've been alright, how about you?"

"Busy as always." he chuckled a little. "You look really nice today." he complimented.

"Thanks." she said. "I'll let you guys get to your weekend together, but here's their bag." she said as she handed him a bag. "It has their clothes and some toys and so on. There's medicine in there too in case one of them doesn't start to feel well and Maddie's inhaler is in there too. Ajay had a bit of a fever this morning, so just keep an eye on that."

He listened to what Ellie was saying and nodded. "Will do." he said with a smile. "Call if you need anything." he told her as they headed up to get settled in the room before anything else.

She nodded and said good bye to the kids, then left the hotel.

"So what are we going to do Daddy?"

"Well...after we get all settled...I was thinking we could go swimming in the pool."

"Oh yeah, we like the pool." Ajay nodded excitedly.

"We do!" Maddie said. "We have one at our new house and we always go swimming with Mommy."

He smiled. "Good...and today you get to go swimming with DAddy!" he grinned.

"It's going to be funnnnn."

"So much fun!" he smiled as they headed into the elevator.

"Mhm." Ajay giggled.

"But...Mommy said if Ajay is sick, then we can't swim." Maddie pouted.

"Well let's check on how he's feeling when we get to the room...if he's not supposed to swim, then we won't go swimming. We can do other stuff." he assured.

"Like what?"

"We can go to the park and play...we can go see a movie and have a yummy dinner...if you guys want, we can go and watch a baseball game."

"Oh I like all of that." Maddie said.

"Park!" Ajay giggled.

"Well I'm glad." he grinned. "Alright...Maddie, are you okay with the park?"

"Mhm." Maddie said. "I wanna go on the swings."

"I'll push you nice and high." he smiled.

"Then I'll jump off." Maddie nodded.
