It's Time? Really?!

Since they got to the hospital, she was checked and it was confirmed that she did go into labor....a month early, but that was fine. She actually dilated pretty quickly and was going to be able to have the baby, as soon as the doctor came into the room. Til then she was trying to remain calm, even though she was in a shit load of pain. No, she didn't ask for an epidural, she wanted to try to have the baby naturally without it. Big mistake, lesson learned. She grabbed the rail on the side of her bed, pretty much squeezing as the contraction passed. "Holy shit, this fucking hurts like hell."

"Then why don't you get the epidural? Is it too late?" he asked.

"Way too late." she told him.

He winced. "sorry...about yelling at you..."

"Not even thinking about that right now." she muttered.

"Is there...anything I can get for you? Do for you?"

"Find the doctor."

He nodded. "I'll be right back." he said as he went and grabbed her doctor, bringing him into the room.

The doctor came in and checked Ashley, since she pretty much complained and well, it was time to deliver that baby. "Alright, we're going to start having you push."

"Fucking finally." Ashley said as she got ready to push the baby out.

Conner wasn't sure what to do so he did the only thing he could think of...taking Ashley's hand.

Okay, she was a little surprised that he did that...only because she thought he would pass out or something. As soon as the doctor told her that she could start pushing, she did just that...following the nurse's orders as well, when it came to breathing and pushing correctly. This lasted for quite some time, until finally...Ashley gave one last big push and her baby came out. "It's a girl!" they announced as Ashley heard the baby crying. She sighed as she plopped back against the pillows, trying to cool off a bit while they cleaned the baby up.

Conner's hand was in a lot of pain but he reminded himself that it was nothing compared to what Ashley was going through. After hours of labor, he couldn't help but smile when the nurse said it was a girl. "A girl...hey...we have a daughter." he smiled as he gently brushed some hair away from Ashley's face.

"Finally." she chuckled a little as they brought the baby over to Ashley and she held her. She smiled as she looked her over and kissed her forehead. "...what should we name her?"

He smiled down at the baby. "Umm...what about...Claire?" he smiled. "I kinda always thought that was a pretty name."

She nodded a bit. "It is nice, I like it. Claire it is." she said. "Did you uh, wanna hold her?"

"Can I?" he asked, surprised that she'd be okay with it.

She nodded. "If you want."

He nodded as he gently took the baby girl. "Hey Claire...I'm your dad..." he said slowly and softly. "God she's...so tiny..."

"...usually how all babies come out." she teased a bit.

"Shut up." he chuckled, gently cradling the baby's head. "How did we manage to make something so...perfect?"

"I have no idea." she said. "We did a good job though."

He nodded. The nurse came over to take the baby.

"You can visit her soon." she smiled, gently taking the baby to the room with the other babies.

"did you need something?" Conner asked Ashley.

She shook her head. "Nope, I'm good. Probably gonna sleep in a bit." she nodded. "You might want to call your family and let them know, well if you want."

"Why would they wanna know about the birth of a grandchild?" he smirked.

She chuckled a bit. "No idea, we'll just tell them when she turns one."
