Second Time Around

"Aw, hell."

Her morning had started off fairly typical. Woke up, bitched about the baby being way heavier than her brother ever was, and proceeded to eat everything in the house. She was in her ninth month of pregnancy, and while she couldn't -wait- to give birth, when her water broke, the first sentence was the first one that flew out of her mouth.

Thankfully, Brandon was with his grandmother, so she didn't have to worry about finding him a sitter while she was giving birth. With that in mind, she walked into the living room to see her husband sitting on the couch. "Phil, wanna go on a field trip? ...to the hospital?"

He snorted. "Why would we want to go to the hospital?" he asked as he continued playing a video game. "That sounds boring."

"Alright, I'll just drive myself over and have the baby while I'm there." Lacy rolled her eyes and went to grab the keys. What, you didn't think she was serious?

"Okay, go have---wait...WHAT?"

"My water broke," she said boredly, grabbing her coat.

"Crap, I didn't think of a name yet." he said as he turned off the game and grabbed his coat as well. "I hope that doesn't ruin the rug." he said as he looked at where her water broke, but joked. "Let's get a move on."

She would probably find that funny a little later. She shook her head and handed him the keys to the car, walking a bit slow to the car as contractions started to set in. "ow, ow, ow," she said.

"Getting bad?" he asked, helping her into the car.

"Yes," she winced and got into the car.

He went into the car and sped off to the hospital. "We'll be there in ten minutes."

"Not soon enough," she groaned.

After she said that, he started speeding and cut through a whole bunch of cars, running red lights and stuff. They made it to the hospital and he parked then helped her out. "That was a little quicker."

Meanwhile, Lacy had never gripped onto the dashboard so tightly in her life. Good Lord! "I'd like to live!" she exclaimed when they pulled into the hospital parking lot, and she let him help her out.

"Sorry." he shrugged.

"Mhm." She shook her head as they entered the hospital.

Once they were inside, Phil handled all the paperwork quickly and then was by Lacy's side as they took her to her room.

A little while later, and they had gotten Lacy situated in her room and had hooked her up to machines in order to monitor her progress. She sighed and looked over at Phil. "Can we not do this again?" she chuckled almost pitifully.

He chuckled. "Well I like the making the baby part, we can do that....just not make another kid."

"I'm cool with that. Should we be calling people or do you just want to do this, just us?" She asked.

"Up to you, I don't care." he shrugged.

"Well if I don't tell your mom she'll kill me." She chuckled lightly.

"I'll just text her and tell her you're in labor."

"Okay," she replied before wincing through another contraction. "Yeah... no more kids." She chuckled lightly.

"You're no fun." he joked.

"I was fun nine months ago."
