Uh... I Can Explain

"I..." She lost the fight eventually and ended up drifting off to sleep.

He chuckled to himself. Woman was stubborn. He ended up falling asleep too though.

[going to bed...night!]

She woke up a few hours later, still wrapped in Phil's embrace. She sighed and blinked a few times to unblur her vision. She was still very tired, but was feeling better than before. She looked at the clock, it was a little after six in the evening. Shit... they were supposed to get the kids hours ago from Phil's mom. She gently pried herself from her husbands grip, hoping she didn't wake him. She rolled out of bed and grabbed a random pair of sweatpants and a mid drift tank top before starting to change.

He felt the movement of the bed when she got out and heard her grab some things. "Where are you going?"

She looked at him over the bed before slipping the shirt over her head. "Go back to sleep, I'm just going to go get Brandon and Ally from your mom's."

"Uh I will...but before you pick them up...I wanna know, are we okay?"

She situated the sweatpants up on her hips before walking over to the bed and leaning over to kiss the corner of his mouth. "We are fine," she told him.

"You sure?"

"Better question is are you really okay with me," she said lowly as she rested her hand on the back of his neck.

"I am." he nodded. "I was the real asshole."

"Because you met another woman and didn't tell me about her," she said sarcastically.

He chuckled a little. "I just shouldn't have made the Karla comment...that's what really got things heated."

"I shouldn't ha--" She shook her head to stop herself and kissed his lips softly. "We're fine," she told him again. "Now go back to sleep, I will be back later."

He sighed a little. "Fine."

She sighed and sat next to his laying form on the bed. "What else do you want to talk about? Because you don't sound fine."

"Nothing, I'm fine." he said. "Just wanted to make sure we're really okay because it's still kind of awkward."

"I think it will be for a while, but we're fixing it."

"Yeah, guess it's all we can do."

She blew out a breath, feeling bad that she was keeping him up. She leaned forward to kiss his forehead. "Go back to sleep, I'll be back, alright?"

"Okay."

Lacy got off of the bed and left the room. She went downstairs, finished cleaning the living room quickly before grabbing the car keys and going to get Ally and Brandon.

When she got there, Phil's mom wasn't happy with her or Phil, and Lacy had to explain that they had to take care of other things. His mom judged by her attire (a shirt that showed off her stomach and a pair of sweats that hung low on her body) what they were "taking care of" and Lacy told her it wasn't that either. She didn't want to, but she briefly explained to her that they had a disagreement and they had to work that out before bringing the kids back into the house.

After 30 minutes of "mom therapy", Lacy was finally allowed to grab the kids and take them back home.

"Is Daddy home?" Brandon asked.

"Mhm, he might be asleep though. So we gotta be quiet in the house."

"Kay," Brandon nodded as Lacy pulled into the garage before letting Brandon out of his car seat and grabbing Ally, who was sleeping.

She opened the door and let Brandon go into the house before following in after him.

We gotta be quiet in the house.

Nope.

"PUNK!" Brandon exclaimed and climbed up the stairs, running to his and Lacy's room before climbing up on the bed, hopping on his back. "I'm homeee."

Phil let out a small chuckle as he felt Brandon jump onto his back. "Welcome home." he said as he grabbed him and tickled him. "I missed having you around."

Brandon laughed as Phil tickled him and hugged him around the neck. "I miss you too daddy. Gramma is... ugh."

He chuckled. "What did she do?"

"Veggies." Brandon frowned. "Brush spouts (Brussel Sprouts)."
