Blast From The Past

"I got it. You go ahead." He said. "Really."

"Fine." She said and dropped the stuff. "We're okay, Phil."

"Are you sure?" he asked as he started to pick up the stuff.

"Positive."

He nodded. "I'll be up in a minute."

She nodded and went upstairs to shower and get ready for bed. She needed a drink. lol

Punk put everything away and then headed upstairs and changed into his pajamas, then climbed into bed.

She was sitting up on her tablet. "Are you okay?"

"I'm fine." He said. "I just want to forget about that dumbass."

She knocked her head back against the headboard. "This is all my fault."

"More so his, but don't worry about it." He said as he wrapped an arm around her waist.

"None of this would have happened if I wasn't such a slut in the first place."

"It's not like you were out there every night with other men." He said.

"I broke your trust, Phil. I violated our vows. I know we're not religious and vows are just words but damn it, they meant.. mean something to me." She said. "I vowed to honor you Punk, and I broke that promise. I failed you and... I think..." She bit her lip to keep from getting emotional. "That is why I'll never be able to forgive myself."

"Yeah, you did but I did too." He told her. "I haven't made you as happy or cherished you like I should have." He said.

"Stop trying to justify shit, Punk." she snapped abruptly. "I cheated on you. That is the worst thing you can do in a marriage. I betrayed your trust. And you... took me back." she said. "You don't get angry at me. You don't call me out on my shit. You don't talk to me about how you're feeling... it's fucking confusing. Because all this time you're saying it's okay but you're not being true to yourself and deep down you resent me. Or at least, thats what I feel. I hate that we've had this conversation a million times and I swear I won't bring it up again, but I just hate... being the shitty one in the relationship. You've taken more abuse and wrongdoing from me than anyone else would have tolerated and you're just this saint who is so patient and tolerant who won't break. ...I don't know." she shrugged her shoulders weakly. "Whatever. You've probably said all that you've had to say so lets just go to sleep. Tomorrow's a new day."

"You expect me to lay down and sleep after that?" He snorted and shook his head. "I could never resent you, Lace. You made a mistake, a shitty one but what can I do about it? It happened. I love you too damn much to leave you and honestly, I don't think I could ever do that."

She looked over at him. "I haven't been a good wife to you, Phil. I don't deserve your last name." And no, she wasn't leaving.

"And? You're stuck with it." He smirked. "Stop beating yourself up over it."

"Not likely." she snorted.

"I just don't want you to live like that forever, babe. It's not healthy."

"maybe one day I'll feel differently."

"I hope so."

"Get some sleep, babe."

"You too." he said as he leaned up to kiss her cheek. "I love you. Don't ever forget or doubt that."
