Booo, he's sick [Phil/Lacy]

Phil had just come back from a long tour and was happy to be back home. Why? Well of course he missed Lacy & Brandon, but also...because he was able to get some sleep....or so he thought. He had his arm around Lacy and woke up when he heard Brandon fussing. He heard him stop, so he figured Brandon went back to bed.

Brandon had been up and fussing all day, and he had been running a fever. She had been giving him children's tylenol to slight the fever, but she just could not understand why he was so damn irritable.

She got out of bed to go check on him, being sure not to wake Phil up, and lo and behold - he started to cry. She sighed and sped up her pace a bit, making it to his room. "What's wrong b--" Holy SHIT. He was like... red. "Oh my God, PHIL." She yelled as she picked Brandon up out of his crib. He was burning up.

Phil heard her yell, so he pretty much figured out something was going on. He got out of bed and went over to Brandon's room. "What? What is it?"

"Look at him," she motioned to a screaming Brandon in her arms, who was now completely red and covering up his right ear with his hand.

Phil looked at Brandon and his eyes widened. No bueno. He took Brandon from Lacy. "We should get him to the hospital then."

"Shit," she sighed and went to go get Brandon's jacket and the car keys. She didn't get why the hell this was happening, it's not like the child was dehydrated. She'd been giving him water all day.

He threw some of Brandon's stuff together and headed to his room, throwing on some jeans and a hoodie. He held onto Brandon and tried to rock him, to calm him down.

"Daddy, it hurts," Brandon cried as he continued to hold onto his ear.

Lacy came back with Brandon's coat and put it on him before handing him his sippy cup full of water. "C'mon, I've got the keys." She sighed.

"We're going to take you to get better." he told him as he kissed his forehead. "Here take him and I'll drive." he said. "I'll go the fastest way."

She sighed heavily and took Brandon from Phil before grabbing the bag that Phil had thrown together and going downstairs and out of the house. As soon as she did, the cold air hit the poor child's ear and the cry/scream that he let out hurt even Lacy's ears. "Oh God, B..." she sighed and got into the car, and waiting for Phil to get in so she could turn the heat on. It would help his ears a bit.

Phil went into the car and started it, turning on the heat. He sped off to the hospital.

As soon as they got there, Lacy got out of the car and rushed into the hospital with a jacket over Brandon's head to somewhat protect his ears from the cold, since that seemed to be what was bothering him, first and foremost.

Phil parked and rushed inside, meeting up with Lacy and Brandon. He grabbed Brandon and held him. "It's okay kid, you'll feel better soon."

Lacy went to go fill out papers for Brandon as he continued to cry on Phil's shoulder. That shit was nerve-wracking. As a mom, it bothered the shit out of her not to know what was wrong with her son.

Phil continued to rock Brandon, trying anything he could to maybe calm him down a bit, while they waited for the doctor.

A little while later, the doctor came out and asked what the problem was. Lacy explained the situation rather frantically.

"...and he's been like this for a few days now, with a fever and he won't stop holding his ear. Listen to him," she said, referring to the crying.

"Alright, alright. We're going to run some tests on him in the nursery," she told Lacy as she took Brandon from Phil gently.

Phil handed Brandon over to the doctor. "How soon will we know?"

"Two hours at the least."

"Alright." he nodded.

The doctor took Brandon away into the nursery.

Lacy sighed and ran her hands over her face.

Phil looked over at Lacy and held her close to him. "It'll be alright."

"He scared the fuck out of me, Phil," she said into his chest. Poor wording, but she didn't know how else to say it.

"He scared me too, I've never heard him like that before."

She sighed. "I hope he's okay. I don't want anything wrong with him."

"Same here, but if something is wrong, we'll deal with it." he said as he kissed her forehead.
