Baby Shower

"I want to name my kids." She said adamantly.

"What do you want to name them?"

"I want to name the boy after you..." She said, fighting to keep her eyes from closing, but eventually lost the fight. "Jack...," she said before she passed out.

"...Lacy? Will somebody give her the god damn blood already?!"

The nurses came and moved Lacy's gurney, wheeling her out of the room.

"We're going to do what we can, but we think she'll be fine." The doctor told him.

"I really hope so." he said. "Can I see my kids?"

"Yeah." The doctor said and led him over to the bassinets that had the twins in them. "There are your kids."

He smiled as he looked at them, kissing their cheeks softly. "Hey guys, it's Dad here. I'm the greatest and coolest Dad you'll ever meet, well..at least I think so. Your Mom is pretty great too, she was really worried about you guys finally getting here and wanted you to be healthy...which thankfully you are." he said as he held their tiny little hands. "She'll be back in a bit. I know your sister, Ally and your brother, Brandon really want to meet you too. They're pretty fun to be around. Oh and you've got other people who can't wait to meet you. Uncle Scotty is a great guy. He's my best friend and he is fun. He usually breaks the rules...so on second thought maybe you won't see him much." he joked. "Ellie is Mommy's best friend...and she has two kids, Maddie and Ajay. They're a pretty...interesting bunch." he joked. "You'll like them. Once Mommy comes back and is better, maybe you'll meet them all because I know they can't wait to meet you."

The baby girl let out a yawn before smiling and the little boy latched onto Phil's finger.

He decided to pick up Jack. "Your Mommy wanted to name you after me, so your name is Jack." he told him as he kissed his forehead. "We've got to pick a name for your sister." he told him as he held his finger out for the girl to latch onto.

Just after Phil said that, the baby girl opened her eyes for the first time and looked up at her Dad. He was right, she did look like Lacy, but she had his eyes. And when she saw him, she let out another smile as she cooed at him.

He smiled back at her. "I've always liked the name Carly....I think it would suit you, but we have got to run it by your Mom." he said as he managed to pick her up as well, now holding both kids.

The doctor walked in to see Phil with the kids and walked up next to him. "We're wrapping up the transfusion, but she's responding well. I should tell you something, though."

Phil looked at the doctor, afraid that he would hear some bad news. "What is it?"

"Her body was under so much stress during delivery and we had to stop her heart from racing before the transfusion. The massive bleeding came from so much scar tissue from her last miscarriage. It's amazing that she was even able to carry twins this long. We think she shouldn't have anymore kids."

He nodded a bit. It was understandable and he didn't want anything to happen to Lacy. "If it's for the best, then okay."

The doctor nodded as the nurses wheeled Lacy. "There she is."

He put the babies back down and went over by Lacy once she was wheeled in. "How you feeling?"

Lacy frowned as she glanced up at him tiredly. "Who are you?"

"....Phil...your husband."

"I'm not married..." she frowned.

"You are." he nodded. Ah shit. "We've been married for a while now. We have kids together and everything."

Lacy noticed the panicked look on his face and let out a little laugh. "I'm kidding, baby."

"...don't ever do that again." he said. "I was about to strangle the doctor."

"I'm sorry." she said sincerely.
