Baby or No Baby? [Anyone]

Ellie walked into the doctor's office nervously and went up to the receptionist's desk. She gave her name and was told to be seated until the doctor was able to see her. She was finally off of bed rest and noticed that she looked a bit chubbier during the days. From laying in bed and eating everyday or from the possibility of being pregnant, she didn't know.

She sat down and tapped her foot, biting her nail as well as she waited.

Then someone came through the door and she gave a nervous smile.

"Oh thank goodness you came!" she said sighing.

"Did you really think I'd leave you hanging?" Candice asked her future sister-in-law.

She chuckled.

"No. I was just nervous that you would get here after I was called in."

"Not a chance." Candice said, taking a seat beside her. "How are feeling?"

"Really nervous." she chuckled.

"I guess I'm kind of freaked out about this whole thing."

"Understandable, I'd be the same way if I were in your position." Candice said. "Just remember you've got the whole family ready to standby by you no matter what happens."

She smiled.

"I know and I'm grateful that everyone is willing to stand by my side."

"We'll get through this, Ellie, I promise." Candice smiled.

"Thanks." she smiled.

"So um, how are the wedding plans coming along?" she asked changing the subject for a bit.

"Well, we've decided on a fall wedding." Candice told her.

"Fall? That's great. I love the fall season, it's not too hot or not too cold, it's just perfect."

Jeff came in and found his fiance and sister. "Hey...what's going on?" he asked a bit worriedly.

Ellie looked up as Jeff entered and took in a nervous breath as she quickly glanced over at Candice.

"Oh um, well Jeff, I'm here because I have to find out if I'm......pregnant." she finished, biting her lip.

He blinked. "Wait...p-p-pregnant?" he asked, more in a shock than anything.

"Ellie...I thought we went over the whole safe sex thing." he said sitting down with her and Candice. He knew Ellie wasn't a child. She was an adult. "What happened?" he asked, staying calm.

"Well Jeff, I think you can assume what happened, she slept with her boyfriend and viola, bun in the oven." Candice put a supportive arm around Ellie's shoulders. "Well possible bun." She corrected.

She smiled at Candice, then looked over at Jeff.

"I'm sorry. I mean, I don't know. One thing led to another and we weren't thinking and it just happened."

"Don't worry Ellie, we're not mad. Everyone makes mistakes now and then, and some have bigger consequences than others." Candice said.

"I know that. If I am, I am taking full responsibility of this child and I will not see it as a mistake. Everything happens for a reason." she shrugged.

"That's right...ellie...you know I'm not one to judge." he said softly. "This is just...a big surprise, that's all." he said sighing.

"So where's Brad?" he asked a bit bitterly. "Shouldn't he be with you for this?"

Hearing the tone of his voice, she shook her head but remained her cool, not wanting to get upset.

"Actually Jeffrey..." she started.

"I haven't mentioned this to him yet because I wanted to be sure first. If I'm not, I'll still tell him about this and if I am, then I will definitely let him know."

"You don't want him here with you?" Candice asked surprised, thinking that if the roles were reversed, she'd want Jeff holding her hand through the whole thing.

"I do, but I just kind of wanted to find out without him. Then he'd worry and all that and he already has tons of family issues he's dealing with."

"Oh." Candice nodded, understanding.

"Yeah." she sighed.

"I just-" but she didn't get to finish before a doctor called her name.

"Well, wish me luck."
