Confrontation [Punk/Lacy]

"Obviously." he said as he folded his arms. "So?"

She sighed. "It's just.. something I've thought about for a long time. It's not like I've turned in the papers, I can always change my mind. I just don't want to wrestle right now."

"You could have talked to me about it though."

"There was nothing to talk about." She shrugged. "I haven't sent them in, nothing's final." She just hoped that he didn't glance through to see her signature on a few of the pages.

"Yeah which pages? I saw a few of them signed already."

"Why the hell are you looking through my stuff?" She asked as she started to get defensive.

"Well why the hell were you being so secretive?"

"Because it's my business and I don't have to tell you everything I do." She scoffed.

"You still could have told me you were thinking about it. We usually tell each other everything and I wouldn't have gotten mad, but when you hide shit like this, that's what gets me mad at you."

"So now you're mad at me. I should be mad at you for going through my stuff!" She told him. "And as a matter of fact, I am."

"How can you be mad at me? You're the one hiding shit."

"I never go through your shit." She told him. "And did you ever think that we have a kid now? One of us has to be here and I'll be damned if I take him on the road. I don't want to be home for three days of the week, like you. You're barely home as it is!"

"I try to be home as much as I can!" he yelled back. "When I get home, I spend time with you and Brandon, so don't pull that crap on me. What do you want me to do? Quit my job?!"

"I didn't fuckin' ask you to do that! Why do you think I'm doing this, Phil? Huh?! I'm just saying that four days out of the week, I'm raising Brandon by myself. I'm not hiring a nanny, so I'll just stay at home!"

"It's all about you right? You don't think it kills me to be away? Damn it, I love that kid and you so much, I hate being away. Ask the guys how I'm always complaining about coming home. I missed fucking Halloween with Brandon! You think I liked that? No. Fine whatever, stay home, quit your job. Do what you want to do, you were going to do it anyway."

"No, Phil." She said harshly. "It's not all about me. It's never been all about me. It's all about our son. You already fucking know what kind of schedule we hold, and it used to be easier, but I've got a kid to think about now," she told him angrily.

She understood why he was upset with her, not that she would admit that she was wrong for what she did at this point and time. And compared to not telling him that she was planning on leaving the company, him going through her things seemed very small, and it was. But she had a tiny feeling that this was something that had been bubbling up inside of them for a while now, and it bubbled over now, and shit hit the fan.

"I'm not raising my kid on the road. I don't care if other people do it." She stated simply. "I'll be damned if he grows up resenting me because my job kept me away from all of the important things in his life. Maybe I'll go back in the future when he's a little older. But the fact that you're trying to make me feel like an asshole for sacrificing something for my son is really low, Phil." She was talking lowly and oddly calm at this point, but the anger (not to be confused with hurt, because it was pure fucking anger) was evident in her face. She hadn't noticed that she'd gone from using "our son" and "our kid" to "my son" and "my kid," because honestly, that's how she felt at the moment. Whether it would strike a nerve with Phil or not, she didn't know. At that point, she didn't care.

He shook his head. "Whatever Lacy, do what you want. You already had your plans, so stick to them. Obviously, you've been wanting to do this for a while, so I'm done."

If the yelling didn't wake Brandon up (which it definitely did, but no one had heard his whimpering. He usually wailed when he was upset), then the tension in the house did, and that was when he started his loud wailing.

Lacy shook her head at Phil. "I can't believe you sometimes, you know that?" She told him as she started for the stairs to settle Brandon down. And what she said next was unnecessary and untrue, but she was damn angry, "It's times like these that I wish we would have stayed apart when we took that little 'break' of ours." She closed her eyes, cursing herself mentally for saying that, and went the rest of the way up the stairs.

"Oh yeah? Then fine! I'll go!" he said.

"No one is stopping you!" She yelled down th stairs as she went to take care of Brandon.

He nodded. "Fine." he went to their room and grabbed some of his shit and threw it into a bag angrily.

Brandon by now was old enough (5-months) to detect when something was wrong and cried harder when Phil stormed past his room. Lacy sighed and picked Brandon up trying to settle him down, but Brandon kept screaming.

Phil finished putting his stuff in his bag and took everything he needed. He went by Brandon's room. "My stuff is out of the room, you can have it all to yourself now."

"DA," Brandon cried and reached for Phil.

"Whatever, Phil."

He rolled his eyes at Lacy and held onto Brandon. "I'll be back." he told him as he kissed his cheek.
