A Little Thinking Time [Jeff/Ellie]

"Oh. Good luck with that one. He might tell you that you're screwing up your life or something." she shrugs.

"Oh well he is highly disappointed in me because of the way I acted after everything happened. You know from the drinking and the suicide attempt, which Matt probably didn't tell you and you're just finding out now." she said biting her lip.

"Oh man, I am the bad one." she said covering her face with her hands as she still laid on the sand.

"Well I don't care...because I'm marrying Candice." he said seriously. Then he listened to everything she said and froze.

"You did WHAT?!" he asked more shocked then anything.

"I know. I know. It was stupid. Matt had to revive me after I drowned myself. I-I think I need to get some help Jeff." she said as tears were threatening to spill.

"Hey...come here..." he said, softening up. "If you need some help...there's nothign to be ashamed of...we can find you a good therapist." he said softly. "Want me to do like everyone else and sing to you?" he offered.

She sat up and leaned into him as she cried.

"Singing would be nice. Jeff, I just- I hate the way I am right now. I shouldn't even be asked how I'm doing, Katie had it worse and she's the one that everybody should worry about not me." she sniffled.

"I just want to be better Jeff. I don't want to be a mess and if I do see a therapist, I don't want to go alone. People will talk and make fun of me for it." she said wiping away some tears as new ones rolled down her cheeks.

He nodded. "I'll sing in a bit...first off...I'm very worried baout Katie too...I'm worried about both of you." he told her.

"About therapy...it's nothign to be made fun of...you've been through so much, things that boring, stupid people won't understand nor is it their business." he told her. "But we can keep it hush hush if you like and I can go with you...and it'll be our secret." he said holding up his pinky. "I promise."

She wiped away the rest of her tears with the sleeve of her black sweatshirt and smiled a bit as she linked her pinky with Jeff's.

"Okay." she nods as she gives him a hug.

"We'll look for a good one tomorrow..." he smiled down at her as he started humming a soft lullaby.

"Alright. Oh and this little hideout of mine at one in the morning, stays between us. I don't want everyone knowing where I am when they can't find me." she says with a small chuckle as she closes her eyes.

"No problem..our secret." he said softly as he continued to hold her and he softly sang to her.

She smiled as she relaxed in his arms as he sang.

"I love your singing." she muttered with a calm sigh.

"Thanks..." he said softly as he continued.

She nods as she keeps quiet and listens to him sing as she heard the waves in the background.

He continued singing until he finished the song. "Feel better?"

"A lot better." she nods.

"Good...now let's go before we catch the flu." he chuckled.

She laughs as well as she stood up, putting her hood over her head.

"Only you would say something like that."

"what? It's flu season." he said getting up with her.

"True, but I've been doing this since Mom died and I've never gotten sick."

"you have? Mom died when I was nine." he said trying to do the math in her head.

"Wait no...since I found out that Mom was dead...you know, as I got older." she corrected.

"Oh...well that makes more sense..." he chuckled. "Mind if I come here every now and then though? It is a really nice spot..."

She shrugs.

"It's fine with me. Just don't think about bringing Candice with you. I don't want you two doing forbidden things on my spot." she chuckles.

He laughed. "Don't worry...though I may bring the dogs when it's my day to walk them on my own." he told her.

"Fine. Just clean up the poopie." she laughs.
