Dealing With Disaster (Jeff, Candice, and Katie)

"I'll lend you plenty of mine." Candice assured her, entering the bathroom and beginning to fill the tub with hot water. "You just relax."

Katie nodded then looked around and saw a chair so she sat down on it. She looked at the open door then felt her heart start to beat faster, remembering that she was in the bathroom before Nick came to Ellie's house. Katie stood up and ran to the door before she closed it then slid down it. She gulped as she started shaking a little.

"Sweetie, what's wrong?" Candice asked alarmed, coming to kneel in front of her.

"Nick got me when I was in the bathroom...he can't get me again if the door's closed." Katie muttered as she looked around with fear in her eyes.

"Sweetie, he's not going to get you ever again." Candice soothed. "I won't let him...and neither will Jeff. You're safe here."

"I was supposed to be safe at Ellie's but look what happened. All of you said I would be okay and that I would never be hurt ever again but he was still able to get me." Katie said.

Jeff heard something upstairs and walked up. "Katie? Candice?" he asked softly, not wanting to startle anyone.

"We're in the bathroom, Jeff." Candice bit her lip and sighed. "Katie, I swear to you, we will protect you."

He sighed, not sure of what more they could do or say to help her. "Katie...I'm going to stay downstairs tonight and make sure no one's gonna come in...the dogs are highly alert and they'll bark if someone they don't recognize comes in." he assured.

"Please...we're not gonna let you get hurt again...I swear on my life."

Katie heard Jeff then gulped.

"Okay." Katie said softly before she moved away from the door.

She slowly stood up then looked at the bath and turned off the water.

"I'm going to take a bath now." Katie said.

"If you need me or Candice, just call for us, okay?" he told her through the door.

"Okay." Katie said as she stared down at the water in the tub.

"Oh God Jeff, I don't know what to do for her." Candice sighed, rubbing a hand over her face. "I just want to make her pain go away."

JEff just pulled Candice into his arms and hugged her tightly. "I know...me too." he said softly, kissing the top of her head.

Katie then slowly got into the water then just stared at the wall.

Candice hugged Jeff back while her mind remained on her best friend. She needed to fix this, but wasn't sure how.

After a couple minutes Katie got out of the tub then wrapped the sheet around her again. She opened the door.

"Candice?" Katie asked.

Candice pulled away from Jeff and returned to Katie. "Clothes?"

Katie nodded.

"Yes please." Katie said.

"Is there anything you need or want? Hot cocoa, ice cream, smores, anything?" he offered.

Katie looked at Jeff then smiled a little.

"Smores." Katie said.

"No problem...they should be done in a minute...or do you wanna make them too? I can get the fire place going and the three of us can make smores." he smiled/

"Okay, I love making smores." Katie said.

"Awesome. I'll be downstairs getting everything ready. you two just come down when you're done." he smiled as he headed downstairs to grab the stuff they needed.

Candice came back with a pair of yoga pants, undergarments and a sweat shirt for Katie. "Here, they'll be nice and warm."
