Out of It

Ellie had been sick for the past week or so. It probably had to do with the weather or whatever else there could be, but she was out of it this time around. Luckily Scott had come home during the week and was around to help take care of her and be with the kids. Unfortunately, she wasn't getting any better. Along with the coughing, chills, feeling weak and tired and whatever else, she also couldn't keep any food down. Every time she tried to eat or drink something, she would throw it up. Her chest was also starting to hurt her and she felt like she had some shortness of breath, but it wasn't too bad so far. She had cried at some point during the day because of how tired she was of being sick like this. Eventually she managed to fall asleep which is what she needed. It only lasted an hour because she felt sick again and forced herself to get to the bathroom. She just stayed in there, resting her head against her arm as she waited to see if she would get sick again.

Meanwhile, the kids were downstairs with Colt and his Mom, who came to help out and visit, finishing up their nighttime snacks. "How come Sophia can't have cereal?" Maddie asked.

"Because she doesn't have all of her teeth yet." he said. "I'm gonna go check on Mommy." he said. "Mom, can you watch them?"

"Sure, no problem."

"Awwwww, I wanted to check on her." Maddie pouted.

"Ba!" Sophia said out loud...just to say something.

"She has germs." Ajay frowned.

"Yes, she has germs so you have to stay down here so you don't get them." he went up the stairs to the bedroom, not seeing her in the bed where she last was. "El?" he blinked.

"Bathroom." she mumbled as she sat up and leaned back against the corner.

He went into the bathroom and looked a little alarmed. "El, you're pale as hell.' He said as he got a warm washcloth and ran it over her fast gently.

"I feel like...I don't even know. I just feel really sick and tired." she said as she closed her eyes.

"El, I don't think this is a cold." he said as he pushed her hair back gently. "I've never seen you sick like this."

She nodded. "My chest is starting to hurt a little and I feel like I can't really breathe, like if I have shortness of breath." she told him. "I'm just tired...." she mumbled. "I want to eat without throwing up and I just don't want to be sick." she said as she started to cry, upset and frustrated.

He sighed and just held her to him, letting her rest on his chest. "After the kids go to sleep, I'm taking you to the hospital." he said.

She sniffled and nodded. "Okay.' she said. Obviously too tired to argue and be stubborn this time, lol. "...what if I'm dying?" she frowned.

"you're not dying, you just need more than tylenol." he kissed her forehead. "Wanna go back to bed?"

She nodded. "Yeah, I don't think I feel nauseous anymore. Well, for now."

"Can you walk or you want me to take you?"

She pouted and raised her arms slightly. "No energy to walk."

He chuckled a little and stood up before reaching down to grab her, picking her up bridal style and carrying her to the room. "Good?"

"Very good." she nodded a little, holding onto him as he carried her.

He carried her into the room and lowered her onto the bed gently. "Is there anything else I can do?"

"I don't think so." she shook her head. "Once we get to the hospital, we'll find out what demon is attacking me and how to get rid of it." she joked lightly.

He shook his head with a small chuckle and set her phone near her. "Well call me if you think of anything. I don't want you hollering down the stairs for anything. Just stay put."

She nodded. "Okay, you've got it."

He kissed her forehead before heading out back downstairs. "Mom, I'm taking Ellie to the hospital once the kiddies settle down. can you stay here with them?"

"Of course." she said as she washed the dishes. "Hospital? Did she get worse?"

"She's really pale and she's not getting any better. I've never seen her this sick."

"I've never heard of anybody being this sick." she frowned. "You guys go ahead. I'll get the kids settled." she told him. "The sooner you get her there, the better."
