Here We Go Again

"And when you're gone, then?" She sighed, frustrated. "I-I can't do this."

Punk looked over at Lacy and thought for a moment. He had been thinking a lot about going back on the road and his family. He was going to wait a while to talk to Lacy about this, but decided now would be a good time. "You can because I'll be by your side."

"I know you will be, you always are by my side. I'm not worried about that." She sighed. "It's just that you'll be back on the road again soon, and two more kids is a lot. I know it's dangerous to end things now, but maybe we should just wait and try again later."

"We don't have to do that, I'm going to take time off."

"You can't take time off after coming back from an injury." She sighed. "I think I'm just gonna go ahead and do it."

"No don't." he said. "I was going to wait to talk to you about this, but now is a good time. All this time that I've been home, I actually enjoyed it. I want to spend more time at home and enjoy it, I'm so burnt out."

Lacy glanced over at him. "So, what... are you going to leave the company or something?"

He nodded. "Yeah, for a while. I need to just get myself together again and relax."

She eyed him skeptically. "Are you sure?"

"I'm positive." he nodded.

"Well, okay.." She said hesitantly.

"It'll be good." he said. "Besides, we have people by us that'll help and support us too. Mom, Colt, Ellie now..."

"I get it." She said. "Leave it to me to just freak out, I guess." She laughed a little.

"I was freaking out too." he chuckled. "But we've got this." he said as he wrapped his arms around her in a hug and kissed her forehead.

"Okay." She managed to smile a little and leaned into him slightly.

A few moments later, the doctor walked in. "Are we good here?"

"Well I am." Punk said. "Lace, you?"

"About as good as I can be."

The doctor turned on the machine so that they could see the babies up on the monitor again. "Are you sure you guys don't want to know the sex? Because what I'm seeing her is very..." she tried to think of a word for it, "Different.

"...what do you mean?"

"It's really not as rare as I'm making it out to be, but it's not too often that I get opposite sex twins," she said. "That..." she pointed to a baby on the screen. "Is your boy. And there's your girl."

"Lace, a boy and a girl." he said as he held her hand. "It's all even now." he joked.

"Yeah..." She smiled a little as she looked at the screen, holding Phil's hand.

The doctor started to explain what they'd have to do now that they'd learned she had twins.. well, mostly Phil, because Lacy was hardly paying attention. "She'll have to give birth a few weeks earlier than normal, and given what happened the last time she was pregnant we don't want to take any chances, so I'm going to have to put her on some sort of bed rest. She can't be on her feet for more than five hours a day. Two babies is a lot of stress on the body, and with what she's gone through, we don't want anything happening to where her body is in danger or the babies. I'll think about bumping up her appointments to once a week, too. Is that okay?"

Punk listened to everything the doctor had told them and then nodded. "That will be fine."

"Alright, then. Anymore questions before I turn off the machine?"

"Don't think I have any." Punk said.

"Alright, then." The doctor nodded and turned off the machine, cleaning Lacy up. "I'll call you guys for your next appointment." She nodded and left.

"Two kids... huh," Lacy let out a small breath, pulling her shirt down.
