What If? VII

Lacy snorted.

"I think she's just hungry. C'mon, Sophie." he went into the kitchen and rolled his eyes.

Ellie came back out.

"Ready?" he asked her.

"Mhm. I'll be back in a few hours." Ellie said as Dean lead her out.

"Don't wait up for her. I'll try to bring her back in time for your kid's morning bottle." he smirked to himself and left.

Sophia threw the toy she had in her hand towards the door, hoping to hit Dean. "Da! Ley! (layley, lol)" she frowned as she pointed at the door. "Ma?"

He frowned and wanted to go after Ellie but was holding Sophia. "That asshole."

Lacy rolled her eyes. She'd been nicer to Scott since Sophia was born but she still didn't like him. "You idiot." Lacy rolled her eyes and walked out.

"It.' Sophia repeated with a nod. Agreeing that he was an idiot.

"Hey." He frowned at Sophia. "Be nice."

She frowned back at him and pointed at the toy phone she had. "Ma." she nodded. Meaning she wanted to call her Mom, lol.

"Is on a date." he snorted and rolled his eyes. "Lets get you sommething for you to eat."

"Booooo." she whined.

"Yummyyyyy." he chuckled and went to make her something after sitting her in her high chair.

It had been about an hour and a half since Ellie left...and she was home already. She used her key to get into her apartment. "I'm back." she announced as she hung up her jacket.

He was playing with Sophia on the floor before looking up. "So soon?"

"Yep." she nodded.

"Ma!" Sophia giggled happily...she then looked around with a glare, but when she saw Ellie was alone, the smile was back on her face.

"Hi baby.' she laughed. "I'll be right back, I'm gonna change." she said.

"What happened?" he asked.

"Nothing." she said. "I'll be back." she told him and went to her room to change out of her clothes. She changed into sweats and a tank top, then went to wash her face in the bathroom to take off all the makeup. She came back out and figured she would sit on the floor with them. Sophia crawled over to her and she picked her up. "Did she behave for Daddy?" she asked as Sophia grinned at her. "It;" Sophia said. "...it?" Ellie asked Colt. "New word or something?"

"Uh, must be." He scratched the back of his neck. "So how was the date?"

She looked over at him and snorted. "I should have just stayed home." She said as she shook her head. "We went to dinner and he talked about himself the whole time, then he "forgot" his wallet so I had to pay." She said. "After that he took me to some grimey bar with so many shady people around. I don't remember how it happened but next thing I know, he's talking about wanting a threesome with me and some other chick at the bar." She rolled her eyes. "And the icing on the date from hell cake? He said that if we were to get serious then he'd want to send Sophia to boarding school when she gets older because he doesn't deal with kids. Yeah, no man is going to tell me what to do with my kid. He made me uncomfortable anyway, kept touching my thigh and ass all night even after I kept telling him to stop touching me. We argued and I just left him at the bar and came home." She shrugged.

He frowned. "Where the f-- he--" he looked at Sophia. "Where did you find this guy? Some dive bar?" he asked.

"Oh yeah, during the many nights that Sophia and I went for drinks." She rolled her eyes. "He is an EMT at the hospital where I work and he's been asking me out for a while now but I never said yes until last week." She said as she bounced Sophia on her knee.

"What made you say yes?" He shook his head. "He's a fucking scumbag."

"Little ears." She said as she covered Sophia's ears. "And I don't know. I guess it felt nice to know that somebody found me attractive and wanted to take me out."

"El, if you wanted to go out you could have asked me." he rolled his eyes. "I'd rather you do that than put yourself in a crappy situation with a scumbag."

"I would have but usually when you go on a date, you have to be interested in the person you're with." She said as Sophia rested her head on Ellie's chest. "It doesn't work with only one person into the other one." she said as she kissed Sophia's forehead.

"You may not be into me anymore but I would ignore that little tidbit and take you out if you were feeling lonely." he said. "I just want you safe El and if that means taking you out even though you'd rather be with a stud," he chuckled. "I'll do it."

She snorted and shook her head. "You don't get it."

"What don't I get, Ellie?" he sighed.
