What If? VII

Seven months after Sophia was born...

Time flew by for Ellie and Colt. Sophia was now seven months old and for her age, she was a fast learner. She was starting to crawl all over the place and said a few words already. Ellie had moved out of her apartment and moved into a new one that was about fifteen minutes away from Colt. Even though they weren't together, he still was in Sophia's life and Ellie would never take that away. He was constantly visiting and taking Sophia on the weekends whenever he would be around. Along with a new apartment, Ellie also got herself a new job; working at a hospital. She ended up quitting the bar and diner all together since the hospital hours were hectic enough. Recently, one of the EMTs at the hospital had been speaking to Ellie and asked her out on a date. She didn't accept right away since she still feels strongly about Colt, but it didn't seem like he did so eventually she accepted the offer. Currently, she was getting herself dressed and ready in the bathroom while Sophia was sitting on the floor with Lacy, playing with her toys. She had asked Lacy to come help her get ready and talk her into actually going on the date and not ditch the guy, lol. Colt was supposed to be coming over a little later on to spend time with Sophia and watch her while she was out for a few hours.

"I feel so...awkward." she told Lacy as she chuckled a little, putting on her mascara.

"Why?" Lacy asked, playing with the baby. 'You're hot and from what you tell me, he's hot too."

"Well yeah, he's easy on the eyes." she said. "But I feel weird going out on a date. It's been a while and I mean...I have a kid. Plus, I guess I still feel a certain way for Scott."

"You said he doesn't feel the same way and I don't know think you should sit around wanting someone that doesn't feel the same. You deserve someone that feels the same as you and will make you happy." she said.

"I guess you're right." she sighed. "I just thought that maybe all this time with him constantly around and stuff, he'd change his mind." she shrugged. "Apparently I was wrong." she chuckled. "Right, Sophie?" she asked her as she looked over at her daughter. Sophia looked over. "Ah?" Ellie snorted.

"Tell Mommy you can't be bothered with your dumb daddy's shenanigans." she tickled Sophia.

Sophia just giggled happily.

"Aw, she loves her Daddy." she said as she started to straighten her hair a little more.

"She loves everyone." She chuckled as there was a knock on the door. "I believe that's your daaaaate."

"Or Scott." she snorted as she finished getting ready and went to open it.

It was Scott. He blinked a little. "What are you all dressed up for?"

"...Hi Scott. I'm great, thanks for asking." she snorted.

"Hi, how ya doin', where ya goin'?"

"I'm okay and I am going out." she said. "...on a date." she added with a nod. awkward.

"...oh." he said before clearing his throat. "Oh, okay." he said. "Is my Peanut here?" he asked, calling for Sophia attention.

"Daaaaaaaa!" she squealed in excitement as she moved away from Lacy to crawl over to him.

Ellie bit back a sigh and allowed him to come in. "There she is." she said and went back over by Lacy to give Sophia and Colt their moment, lol.

He walked in and swooped her up. "Hi Princess." he held her up.

"It'll be over soon." Lacy said lowly.

Sophia giggled at him and hugged him excitedly.

"Sure." she snorted.

There was a knock on the door. "See?"

She nodded. "I guess." she said. "Do I look okay?" she asked before she went to answer.

"You look great." Scott answered for Lacy.

She was confused for a moment but nodded. "Thanks." she said as she went to open the door.

"Hey there, dollface." her date said.

"Hi Dean." she smiled a little. "Um, come on in." she told him as she stepped aside to let him in.

He nodded. "Whoa, full house."

She nodded as she closed the door. "Over there is my friend Lacy, my daughter Sophia and..." she froze for a moment not sure how to introduce him. "...Sophia's Dad, Scott." she told him. "I'll be ready to go in a minute, let me just get my shoes and jacket." she told Dean and went to her room.

Dean looked at everybody. "Sup?"

Sophia scowled and looked at her Daddy. "Da.' she frowned.

He rocked Sophia gently as he inspected Dean. "So.. where are ya taking her tonight?" he asked.

"Dinner and probably a bar or club.' he shrugged. "I figured chicks like that stuff."

Sophia didn't like him, lol. She continued to scowl at him.

Scott bit his tongue. He didn't need Ellie getting mad at him. "Well.. have fun, man."

"Oh I plan on it." he smirked. "Your kid always upset?"

Sophia answered for him. "Duh." she cooed out.
