Ajay's First Birthday

Lacy cut Brandon a look. "Did you tell Ellie that your dad hit me?"

"He did." Brandon shrugged and ate more of his pizza.

Lacy shook her head. "Mike and their dad came by to visit. Phil was already not happy about the fact that his dad was coming over but Mike totally just crashed and you know how Phil gets if someone even mentions Mike. Mike... said some things that weren't so great about myself and the kids and then he pushed me. I pushed him back but Phil lost it and rushed Mike to hit him but I ended up getting crushed between them and I hurt my back. I managed to talk Phil down but Mike, being Mike, spit in his face." She rolled her eyes. "And I keep telling Brandon that he didn't hit me but he just doesn't buy it and keeps throwing these tantrums whenever Phil says something to him."

"Oh." she nodded. "Yeah, he said something about an uncle and I figured Mike had to do something with it." she sighed. "The good thing is that you calmed Punk down though and he's okay. Did he apologize to you?"

"No," she told her quietly so Brandon couldn't hear. "But El, there's nothing to apologize for. He didn't hurt me intentionally, he hit the guy for hitting me."

"Yeah but still...Brandon is all like...mad at him because of it."

"Well what can I do, Ellie? Because I don't know anymore." Lacy sighed. "There used to be a time that Phil came home and Brandon wouldn't leave his side. Brandon sees him now and just leaves the room."

"I don't even know." she said. "Have you tried really talking to Brandon? Cause I know Phil is like...upset that Brandon isn't as close to him as he used to be, you know? He does blame himself."

"He just doesn't want to hear it." Lacy rolled her eyes. "I don't know who he gets his stubbornness from, me or his dad. I just want all of this to be over, I want everyone to be happy so we can finally move on from from this fucked up year, I'm just.. tired, El." She sighed.

She gave her a small smile. "I'm sure things will get better eventually. Yes, Brandon is being stubborn and all that, but who knows? Maybe it'll get better soon and he'll be back to the way he was. I think him just seeing you all sad this year after you left Phil and then the incident happening the other day, kind of messed him up. He feels like Phil is always doing something, but once things get better, he'll change.."

"Might be stress, but right now it doesn't feel like things will get any better than they are now." Lacy sighed, looking a bit dejected before glancing over her kids. Brandon was done with his pizza while Ally was still slaving over a piece of watermelon. lol.

"Done, champ?" Lacy asked.

"Yeah, I love pizza." Brandon grinned.

"I know." She chuckled and looked back at Ellie, changing the subject intentionally. "Did you get Ajay a cake? We can cut it and he can open the rest of his gifts."

She nodded a bit. "Yep." she said as she took it out of the oven and set it on the table. "Come on guys, time to cut the cake." she called out as she picked up Ajay and put the candles in the cake.

"Best part of a birthday party." Shannon grinned.

"You would, fatty." Punk teased.

Brandon just looked ahead as Ellie put the candles in the cake.

"Hey, are we name calling?" Lacy asked with a laugh as Punk and Shannon walked in.

"Of course, we always do." he smirked.

"Hurting my feelings and everything." Shannon pouted.

"You'll be okay." Phil said as he wrapped an arm around Lacy's shoulders.

"Okay, everybody let's sing." she said as they started to sing Happy Birthday.

Lacy leaned into Phil as they started to sing along.

"...happah bir'day dear AJAYYYY...," Allison hang her little heart out. "Happah bir'day to youuuuu!"

Madison giggled at Allison as they all finished the song...and Ajay was grinning at all the attention. Ellie helped him blow out the candles and clapped as they went out. "Yay!" she smiled as she kissed his cheek. "Lacy, he's getting too big." she pouted.

"You'll be okay." Phil chuckled.

"Ask this guy," she jerked her thumb towards Phil, "I had a total meltdown when Brandon turned one." She chuckled. "You'll be okay."

"Seriously, I thought she was gonna cry."

"I did enough crying already." she chuckled. "You guys want some cake?" she asked as she handed Ajay to Shannon.

"But Jack," Lacy whined, pressing her palms to his chest. "Brandon's just getting so big, and I don't know what to do anymore... I don't want him to grow anymore," she mocked herself from like.. a year ago.

"Cake!" Brandon grinned.

"I want cakeee," Ally whined.

"We'll pop out another kid." he joked as he wrapped his arms around her.

"Okay, okay. Cake is coming." she said as she cut some for Allison and Brandon.

Lacy chuckled. "Now now, you know Shannon gets pouty when you hug me all close," she joked.

Brandon eyed Phil a little oddly as he wrapped his arms around mommy. He was gonna crush her, Brandon just knew it. He'd watch, while openly glaring a hole into Phil's head, and see what happened. If anything went down, he'd save the day. Been waiting to kick him in the leg for the longest, anyway.

"But he has a girlfriend and you're all mine." he chuckled as he kissed the top of her head. "Enjoying yourself?" he asked her.

Ellie handed everybody some cake. "There you go. Enjoy." she said as she helped feed Ajay and Madison.

Brandon was distracted by the sugary goodness of cake. Damn it all. He automatically grabbed the plastic spoon beside his plate (mom didn't let him use forks yet) and started on his cake. Jesus, what flavor was this? DELICIOUS.

Lacy thanked Ellie and set her cake to the side, she'd get to it in a bit. When he asked her if she was enjoying herself, she answered, "Yes and no. Your son's attitude has got him acting like a you-know-what," she said lowly with a chuckle. She could have said bitch, but that's not even right lol

"He will." Lacy nodded. "But, enough about that. We can talk about it at home. You have a diet to ruin, Princess." She smirked and handed him a piece of cake.

"I can't wait." he joked as he took his cake and ate it.

Lacy chuckled and started to eat her cake before seeing Allison with frosting all over her face. She laughed and helped her eat it before asking Ajay, "good birthday so far?"
