Giving Maddie The News

A couple weeks passed since Ellie found out she was pregnant....again and now she was starting to show a bit. This pregnancy was really starting to suck though, she felt worse than ever and she was very cranky...and moody. Now that she was showing, it was time to tell Madison about the addition of her little sister or brother coming into the family, just so she knew. Ellie was laying on the couch, watching tv and Madison playing with her toys on the floor. She glanced over at AJ.

"I think we should tell Madison now." she said.

AJ stretched a little and then nodded. "Sure." he said as he turned the TV off. "Maddie, honey...can we talk a little bit?" he asked gently as he picked her up and sat her on his lap.

Maddie pouted but nodded anyway. "Kay." she said.

Ellie sat up. "Um...okay. Well, mommy and daddy have some pretty cool news to tell you." she nodded.

"Layley come over with Brandon?" Madison asked.

"Uh...no." she chuckled.

He chuckled as well. "Well...you noticed how Mommy's tummy has been getting a bit bigger?"

Maddie tilted her head and looked at Ellie's stomach. She then gasped. "Mommy, you need to go to gym."

Ellie...well she laughed a little. "That's not very nice."

"But you get big like balloon." she said puffing her cheeks up.

AJ was trying not to laugh. "No sweetie..." he said, somehow managing to keep a straight face. "It's not because Mommy's getting fat..." he started.

"Mommy and daddy are having another baby." he smiled. "And the baby is in there." he said, taking Maddie's hand and putting it to Ellie's stomach.

Madison looked on in confusion as she touched Ellie's stomach, then giggled. "Nooooo, there's no baby. Brandon is baby." she nodded.

"Yes, he is." she nodded. "But the baby that I'm having is in my stomach and it's very very small. Once it comes out, it'll look big like Brandon." Ellie told her.

Madison shook her head. "No, no baby. I baby." she said as she pointed at herself.

HE chuckled. "Yes you are...but you're gonna be a big girl soon and not a baby anymore...we will always love you so much, Maddie...but mommy is having another baby."

Madison frowned. "No baby mommy." she shook her head. "Baby will be loud like Brandon and take my toys. I don't want new baby."

"Maddie, but you get to be a big sister and help me take care of the baby, you can play with the baby too." she tried to reason.

"No, I don't wanna. My toys."

"But Maddie...if you want these toys...the baby won't get anything to play with...and these are baby toys. We were gonna give these to the new baby when it comes...and buy you a lot of new big girl toys....wouldn't you like that better?"

"I want all my toys." she pouted.

"Oh well...I was gonna go and buy you all new toys, but I guess you don't want them...so the new baby will get all new toys."

That made Madison sad and she started to cry. "New baby gets everything." she said as she kicked her toys a little and ran off to her room.

"That went...great."

He sighed. "What do we do? I didn't wanna make her cry."

"She'll just have to get used to it." she said. "I think she'll get over it soon, but...I don't know...try talking to her and maybe take her to do something...show her that no matter what...we'll love her." she said. "I would join you, but I don't feel so hot right now. I think I'm going to lay down upstairs or something."

He nodded. "But what should I do? I mean...I don't know what I can do for her not to hate me right now." he chuckled a little.

"She doesn't hate you." she chuckled. "Just tell her you'll take her for ice cream or something, that usually works on her. She'll be happy again."

He nodded. "Okay...did you want anything while I'm out?" he offered.

She shook her head. "I'm fine." she said. "Just go handle Maddie." she chuckled.

He nodded as he went up to Maddie's room. "Sweetheart? Can I come in?"

Maddie was hiding some of her toys and heard AJ ask to come in. "Kay daddy." she said, allowing him to come in.

"Hey beautiful...so...can we talk?"

"Mhm." she nodded. "We talk." she said.

He nodded, sitting on her bed with her on his lap. "I didn't mean to hurt your feelings before..."

She shook her head. "No daddy, I'm sad because when new baby comes, you and mommy won't play with me anymore. New baby will be more important."
