Leaning on a Friend (Angel&Jeff)

Angel stood outside the door to Jeff's home, unsure if she was ready to face the truth of what she was about to tell him. She raised a hand and knock weakly.

Candice was out so he was home alone today. He just fed the dogs and heard someone at the door. He went to the door. "Hey Angel...what's up?" he asked as he moved over so she could come in.

Angel entered Jeff's home and before she could open her mouth to speak, she burst into tears.

"Whoa...Angel, what's wrong?" he asked worriedly as he wrapped an arm over her shoulder.

"Jeff...I...I have cancer," Angel cried.

He pulled her more inside so they could sit on the couch. "What?" he asked, shocked.

"The doctors dianosed me with lymphoma this morning," Angel sniffled, wiping her eyes.

He pulled Angel into a hug. "I'm sorry..." he said softly.

"Jeff...I...I'm scared," Angel stammered.

"It's okay to feel scared...I'd be lying if I said I wouldn't be a little scared...does your dad know?" he asked softly.

"I told him this morning, right after I left the doctor's office," Angel said.

He nodded. "So...what's gonna happen? Surgery? Radiation? Chemo?" he asked curiously.

"They are going to start with aggressii=ve vitamin thereapy, because with lymphoma being a cancer of the immune system,my body can't hadle any of the other options," Angel said.

He nodded. "You'll get through this..." he assured.

"I hope so Jeff, I really hope so," Angel said.

"You WILL...you gotta believe you will." he said.

"It's just hard Jeff," Angel said.

"This is the same cancer that killed my mom,"

"But it's not gonna get you...you're strong Angel...you're gonna kick this cancer's ass...you understand me?" he said with a wink.

"I don't even know if I want to Jeff, If I give up I'll be back with my mom," she paused an clutched the cross around her neck, "And Chris."

"But what about the people you're leaving behind? Are you really that cowardly to just give up? Would your mom really want you to give up?" he asked.

Angel shook her head.

"Then don't....fight hard Angel...do it for her your mom." he told her.

"Jeff, I know this is going to sound crazy cause you barely know me, but can you help me deal with this?" Angel asked.

"Me? But...what can I do?" he asked.

"What you're doning now is enough Jeff, I just need someone to talk to," Angel said.
