Callie sighed as she pulled her keyboard out from under her bed.

She bagan to play as she sang softly.

The silence keeps it easy
keeps you safe for the moment.
As you're walking away
your foot steps get louder.

Then she saw someone standing at the door.

(Anyone?)

Jeff hadn't really gotten to meet Callie but he wanted to know what was going on with her and with what had happened between her and Matt. He had found out where she lived and knocked on her door.

"It's open," Callie called to the door as she lit a cigarette.

He walked in and smiled a little. "So...Callie, right?"

"Yep, Jeff right?" Callie asked as she opened her window to allow her boyfriend Alex to climb in.

He nodded. "Yeah...umm...so...you're Amy's daughter?"

"Yep," Callie said as Alex lifted her over to the bed.

"I missed you like crazy yesterday!" Alex said.

"I missed you too," Callie told Alex, laying her head on his chest

"Umm...I could come back if this is a bad time...I was just...curious as to what hapened with Matt and the car accident and you and everything." he said shoving his hands in his pockets.

"Alex, can I talk to you later sweetie?" Callie asked.

Alex nodded and jumped out the window "Love you," he said as he ran off.

"Now, you were saying?" Callie said, offering Jeff the seat beside her.

He took the seat next to her. "What's going on with you and Matt?" he asked.

"Simple, he hates me," Callie said.

"Well...why does he hate you?" he asked curiously.

"Because I don't like people telling me what to do," Callie said.

"That doesn't mean he hates you...you probably just get on his nerves." he pointed out.

"So...Amy's your mother...why did you all of a sudden come seek Matt out?"

Callie's heart raced, she didn't know if she could tell Jeff what Adam had done to her.

"I.....don't...I don't want to talk about it," Callie said,tears welling up in her eyes at the thought of what he had done.

"whoa, it's okay...you don't have to say if you don't want to." he reassured.

Callie looked at Jeff, something telling her she could trust him.

"Adam molested me," Callie told crying.

Jeff pulled Callie in for a hug and held her close upon hearing that. "I'm very sorry...did you tell Matt that?"

Callie shook her head.

"He won't beleve me," she said.

"Ellie and Katie know, but Katie thinks I'm lying; she hates me too," Callie said.

"I just want someone to love me," the young girl cried.

"Well I believe you...and if you ever need to talk, you can talk to me." he reassured. "Matt...he just needs some time to adjust and get used to the fact that he's suddenly a father." he explained.

"Amy hurt him really bad...with Adam...so that'd be the main reason he probably hates you...because you do resemble her quite a bit...and suddenly you're in his life." he explained as he continued hugging his new neice.

Callie sobbed in Jeff's arms, her hardened exterior gone and the true Callie shining through; a confused, lonely, helpless little girl seacrhing for love but unsure how to obtain it.

He just continued to hold her close and rock her gently in his arms and stroke her hair. He just let her cry and let out how hurt she was feeling. Sometimes all you needed was a way to let it out and Jeff was letting Callie let her pain out.

Callie looked at Jeff with tears in her eyes.

"Will he ever love me?' she asked.

Jeff just smiled a little at her. "Just give him some time...he'll come to love you...you can't expect him to love you over night...but he will. Just let him start seeing the real you...the you I'm seeing right now." he told her.

Callie nodded.

"I'll try," she said softly.
