The Invasion

"Mike..!" Lacy got out in a strained tone as she tried to pry his hands from around her neck.

"Shut up," he growled and brought his knee up to her stomach, causing a loud shriek of pain to come from Lacy before he threw her to the ground.

He had various scratches on his face, his hair was out of place and his shirt was torn. Lacy had tried to fight him off but a punch to the mouth put the bitch in her place.

"Okay, I'll see you later," Lacy said as she kissed Phil lightly before kissing Ally and Brandon on the cheeks and making sure they had their coats on. "Be good for daddy, okay?"

"Okay mommy." Ally said before kissing her cheek. Brandon did the same.

Lacy was now 6 months pregnant and her back hurt like hell with this kid. So she asked Phil to go to Babies R Us to get one of those support bands for her belly so it would take some of the pressure off of her back.

The doorbell rang and Lacy arched a brow. Phil must have forgotten something, but why didn't he just go through the garage door like he always did? Ah well, she shrugged, and went over to answer the door.

Her eyes widened. "Mike?"

He smirked at his brother's wife, the tramp. "Lace... nice bump," he commented snidely before pushing her roughly backwards into the house...

Twenty minutes, many punches to Lacy's face and kicks to his niece or nephew later, Mike pulled back and looked at his handiwork. Lacy was on the floor, hardly conscious with an arm curled protectively over her stomach. Her face was bleeding and she was openly crying.

"I thought I said shut up," Mike growled again and picked her up roughly by the hair and slamming her head against the cabinets. Lacy slumped down to the floor, completely unconscious.

Mike smirked at a 'job well done' before rushing out of the house, rushing out of the house and leaving the front door unlocked.

How Mike left her would be how Phil found her whenever he came home.

Phil had finally made it home after about an hour or two of shopping around with the kids. See, bad idea to take kids to a store, because then they want everything in sight. He promised them to take them for ice cream if they could leave and luckily they agreed....and he did as promised. He finally made it home and opened the door to the house. "Lacy, they did----" he stopped as he saw the sight in front of him. Lacy was on the floor, unconscious, battered and bruised. What the fuck? He dropped the bags he had in his hands and ran over to her. "Baby? Lacy? Can you hear me?" he asked and then he checked for a pulse.

She couldn't. Her pulse *was* there, but it wasn't strong at all.

Allison walked in and saw Lacy on the floor like that... she dropped her ice cream cone on the floor and started to cry. "Mommy!" she ran over to her.

Brandon started to cry, too, but didn't run over to them.

"Shit, shit, shit." he muttered and looked at Brandon and Allison. "Go upstairs." he told them and then reached into his pocket, getting his phone out to call 911.

"Daddy, no. Mommy--" Brandon started.

"GO UPSTAIRS!" he said and rolled his eyes to himself a bit. He shouldn't have yelled.

That made Allison cry harder, and she ran upstairs. Brandon chased after her.

He'd go to them later, right now he had to get help for Lacy. So he called 911 and told them what happened, then hung up when they said they were on their way. "Hang in there Lace." he said as he kissed the top of her hand.

A few minutes later, the paramedics came through the front door that Mike had left unlocked and one moved Phil gently away from Lacy so they could start to strap her onto the backboard. When they moved her, a wallet would come into Phil's line of vision.

Once they moved her, Phil saw the wallet and went through it. "That motherfucker." he muttered as he saw that it was Mike's. He'd deal with him later, right now he had to call his mom to meet him at the hospital, so he could head over there with the kids. He sent her a text and went to get the kids so they could head out.

Few hours later

Phil, Mary and the kids were at the hospital, had been for a while, waiting for news on Lacy. Brandon and Allison had fallen asleep a while ago and Mary was holding them while she gave Phil his space. Eventually though, she got up and went over to him. "Honey... if you wanted to talk about it.."

"I'd rather not, Mom. Just know your other son is a dead man walking."

Mary sighed, and really didn't want to believe that it was Mike who did this. "Phil, don't be rash..."

"I'm serious Mom. If he were smarter, he wouldn't have left his fucking wallet. He's dead."

"Let the police take care of it," Mary said sternly.

"I'll let them take him, but I'm beating his ass first."

"You're not beating anyone's ass, Phil." Mary rolled her eyes. "What, you want to go to jail, too?"

"I just want him to feel everything, just like Lacy felt when he attacked her."

"We don't even know for sure that it was him." Of course she did. She just didn't want to believe it.

"Who else do you think did it? He left his wallet behind. I know for sure I don't have anything that belongs to him in my house."

"I..." She sighed. "Nothing."

"Brooks? Lacy Brooks?" The doctor called out.

"Go on," Mary sighed.

He stood up and walked over to the doctor. "Yes? I'm her husband." he said. "How is she?"

"Not good, I'm afraid. We had to perform surgery to stop internal bleeding, she has 3 broken ribs, stitches on the right side of her lip and a severe concussion. It appears as if whoever attacked her choked her out, and that coupled with the concussion... she fell into a coma." He reviewed his chart again, and sighed heavily. As if Phil hadn't received enough bad news, "...and she miscarried."

"Son of a bitch." he muttered to himself. Michael Brooks, was going to pay. "Do you know if she'll be able to wake up anytime soon from the coma?" he asked. "How bad is she?"

"Being honest?" The doctor looked around. "We don't know when. Or if."
