Getting Checked Out

Ellie and AJ woke up early so they could go to the doctor and get her checked out. She got dressed and then left Maddie with Phil so she could stay with him while they were at the appointment. Once they arrived at the doctor's, she went to the office and gave her name while AJ parked the car and waited patiently to be called in.

Aj parked the car and then walked into the waiting area where he found Ellie and sat next to her.

"I think we're next." she said resting her head on his shoulder. She felt like crap.

"You want some water or something?" he asked worriedly.

"Nope, I'm okay for now."

He nodded. "Want me to go in with you?"

"You should wait here. If something shows up or anything, I'm sure they'll let you come in."

He nodded, kissing the top of her head.

"Stop worrying so much." she chuckled. "I can tell when you're worried and that makes me nervous."

"I can't help it. You've never been sick this long."

"I know." she said. "It's weird, I don't think I was this sick when I was with Madison. It's probably her flu from last week but like ten times worse since I'm older."

He nodded. "Okay." he smiled as he heard her name being called. "I'll be right here."

"See you in a few." she said as she stood up and went to the back. Once she was taken in, the doctor met with her and asked her for a urine sample and took some blood from her as well. Ellie explained how she had been feeling sick for a while and told them about Madison being sick as well, that it was most likely the flu. The doctor nodded and then the results came back in.

"Oh dear..." she said.

"What? What is it?" Ellie asked, now she was close to freaking out.

"We found something." she told her. "I'd like it if your husband came in while I explain what it is and I show you."

"Alright." Ellie replied slowly as she bit her lip and well...wanted to cry.

The doctor nodded and went to get AJ. "Mr. Jones, I'd like for you to come in please."

Now he was worried. "Sure..." he said as he followed her into the room where Ellie was. He sat by her and put his arm around her. "So...what's going on?"

"Well, I examined your wife and had her take some tests...and it turns out that something showed up on her tests. I wanted you here so I could tell you what it is that we found. I'm also going to show you." she said as a nurse came in and brought in an ultrasound machine. "This will help us show you." she said. "Ellie, lay down please." Ellie nodded, still confused and did as she was told. The doctor then prepared Ellie and turned on the machine, finding what she was looking for. "Ah, there it is." she said pointing at the screen.

He looked. "Doc...what exactly are we looking at?" he asked still confused. Ellie couldn't be pregnant again...the other doctor had said what a miracle Madison was and that another baby was almost impossible, if not impossible already.

"I don't get it." Ellie said.

The doctor chuckled. "You're pregnant." she told them. "You both are going to be parents again."

Ellie shook her head. "It's not very nice to mess with us like that."

"I'm serious. It seems as though you're already a month along."

"How? We were told multiple times that Madison was our only one...and with what happened to Ellie, she couldn't get pregnant again." he explained. "So...that's not funny..."

"Looks like you've done it again." she said. "You both are just extremely lucky." she smiled.

"You're like...really serious?"

"I wouldn't lie to you, or I'd lose my degree." she chuckled. "You're pregnant, I'm one hundred percent sure."

He looked at Ellie in surprise. "you're...pregnant again..."

"I guess so..." Ellie said.

"I'll give you two a moment alone while I go get your sonogram." the doctor said as she cleaned Ellie up, then left the room.

Ellie sat up. "What are you thinking right now?"

"We're gonna have another baby..." he said in shock. "What are you thinking?" he asked, a grin sneaking out.

"I...don't know really." she said with somewhat of a chuckle. "I'm excited."

"Me too...baby...you got pregnant again." he smiled, kissing her lovingly.

She smiled as she kissed him back. "I know we can't do anything about it, but you really think we're going to be able to handle having another baby?"
