Getting My Girl Back [Punk/Lacy]

"Actually for your information, Lacy has known me for over ten years now and she must see a lot in me if she wants to be with me. Oh and addict? I'm far from that, I'm Straight Edge and will be for the rest of my life, so maybe you should shut your mouth before you come to conclusions."

"Straight Edge, is that what you tell Lacy?" She scoffs. "She was perfectly fine in her previous relationship. She was going to get married! And then you had to come along." She narrowed her eyes. "Lacy will do anything I tell her to, and if I say leave you, then she will."

"Lacy is thirty years old and she can do whatever the hell she wants. As for her previous relationship, why don't you ask her what he did to make her leave? He wasn't good for her anyway and she definitely deserved better, while I'm not perfect, I'm sure as hell more of a man that he was and I'm better for her."

"According to who?" Lynn gave a bitter chuckle. "Lacy is my daughter, and I know what's best for her. You are not what is best for her. She should have been married with kids by now."

He groaned and rolled his eyes, this lady was really starting to piss him off.

"Did you ever think that maybe she doesn't want all that? She doesn't want that perfect little life that you have fricking planned in your head, so just get over it and deal with it."

"Ever think she TELLS you she doesn't want it because you can't give it to her?" Lynn smirks. "She doesn't want to hurt you. She told me herself."

Phil's eyebrows furrowed in confusion.

"N-no, you're lying."

"Do you think I'm lying?" Lynn looked at him with her most believable face. "Lacy wants the kids, the marriage... everything. But since you can't give it to her, she lies and says she doesn't. She's looking for someone that CAN give that to her."

He sighed as he sat on the couch and just shook his head. Why didn't she tell him?

Lacy walked out of the bathroom. "I'm ready."

"Honey, I'm going to have to take a raincheck." Lynn said.

"Wha--"

"See you." Lynn said simply before walking out.

"Okay?" Lacy closed the door after her before turning back to Phil. "That's weird. I guess... we're free."

"Guess so, but maybe I should get going too." he replied.

Lacy frowned. "What? Why?"

"Uh....well...your mom kind of said some things to me and maybe she was right." he said with a sigh.

"What did she say...?"

"Well she said that you deserve better and that...you do want the marriage and kids thing, but just not with me. Maybe I'm just screwing up whatever plans you have."

"Phil, what?" She shook her head in confusion. "I told you my whole stand on the kid thing and I don't care about marriage. It's the last thing on my mind. All I care about is being with you."

"But she told me that you were just saying all that to cover it up."

She sighed. "That's not true. You know I don't lie to you."

He sighed.

"I know, but I'm just thinking that maybe...you do deserve better than me. I'm probably ruining your life."

"Why would you think that?" She sighed.

"Well everything that we've been through and sall the arguments we've had."

"What I've gone through, sucks. I know. And us arguing, sucks. But that's just part of being together. I thought the point of this visit was to start over."

"It was, but your mom kind of ruined it." he said with a light chuckle.

She sighs lightly and moves behind him on the couch to rub his shoulders. "My mom isn't the nicest of people. It takes a while for her to get to warm up to people. Don't be mad."

"Alright, I guess I'll get used to her then. I'll try not to let her get to me."
