Preparing

Ellie sat on the floor in the nursery, frowning as she tried to read some instructions. She was currently trying to set up this white crib that she ordered and finally came in during the week. Obviously, there was time before the baby would arrive but she figured that she could start getting the room ready so that when it was closer to her due date, there wouldn't be much left to do. Looking back at the instructions and then back at the pieces that laid on the floor, she huffed and threw the paper to the side, going to stand up. She'd have to get Colt for this. Ellie didn't want to bother him since he had just returned the night before from being away for a couple of weeks and she knew he needed rest...but she wanted to get this done and at least have it set up. Finally getting to her feet, she headed to their room and...just sat on the bed with a pout, arms folded across her chest, waiting for him to wake up.

Like the last time, Scott had become a light sleeper when she told him that she was pregnant. Sometimes she needed things in the middle of the night and he had to be awake to get it for her or there'd be hell to pay in the morning. So when he felt the shifting of the bed, he opened his eyes sleepily and looked up at Ellie. And she did not look happy. "What's got you ticked now?"

"I'm not really ticked." she said. "Just a little frustrated." she sighed. "I don't get the stupid instructions to put the crib together."

"Babe, I told you I'd do that." he yawned.

"I know, but I got...bored." she chuckled a bit. "I figured it would be one less thing for you to do, so I went to do it and well...a half hour later, I'm here. I really didn't want to wake you up, but I need a little help starting, then you can go back to sleep." she nodded.

"Ellie." he whined. "I will set up the crib. And paint the nursery, like I promised you. Now rest." he said. "you know the doctor said you need to chill out."

"I have been." she said but then nodded. "Fiiiiiiine, I'll go put the stuff away and then chill out in the living room. Sleep." she told him as she kissed his cheek. Of course, she was going to do the crib but he didn't need to know, lol.

"No, stay with me." he said as he wrapped an arm around her waist.

"After I put the stuff away." she nodded.

"No. I'll do it. Lay down." he said.

She bit back a sigh. "Fine." she said and laid down. She'd wait for him to fall asleep.

He placed his hands on her stomach. "You smell nice." he said.

"I took a shower earlier with a new body wash, soooo it's why I smell nice." she chuckled a bit.

"I like it." he kissed her neck. "How are you feeling?"

"Very good." she nodded. "Calm and relaxed too."

"Calm and relaxed while you're planning to go sneak around the nursery?" he smirked.

She scoffed. "I am not. How dare you think I would ever do that." she said as she bit her lip to keep herself from smiling, lol.

"You are a horrible liar." he chuckled.

"Hate you." she snorted. "I just...want to do something." she told him. "I love that you're making sure I'm okay and everything, I really appreciate and love you for it, but I need to be able to do things." she chuckled a bit. "I swear when you were gone, all I did was relax and lounge around. Maddie and Ajay even made sure I was okay. I'm not going around doing a billion things." she said.

He kissed her neck again. "Well I'll help you with the nursery. Maybe you can paint."

"Oh yeahhhhh." she said. "I do like painting. We just have to pick a color. Blah."

"Then I'll take you to the store and you can pick out paint, furniture, whatever you want."

"...we're gonna go broke." she joked.

"Spare me." he chuckled a little.

"We'll see." she snorted...then looked over at him. "Um, Scott..."
