His Birthday

"Then that's what we'll do." he said as he moved from under her and went to go start the bath. Once he had it set up, he dimmed the lights in the bathroom and came back out into the bedroom, gathering Ellie in his arms and taking her in the bathroom. He set her in the tub and got in behind her.

She leaned back against him, letting herself relax. "This is nice." she said.

"Perfect birthday." he kissed the back of her neck. "I'm just glad we're like this and not like the other lovely couple we know."

"Yeah...I can't even imagine what it would be like if we were like that." she shook her head. "It just sucks to see them go through all they've gone through." she shrugged. "But I'm glad we're not like that either."

"I think it helps that I'm not a push over and you're not crazy." he snorted.

"That may be it." she laughed.

He chuckled a little and started to massage her shoulders. "He's been down because Lacy's been in one of her lovely moods again."

"Again? I wonder if she's mad at him."

"He said she doesn't care about him anymore."

She sighed. "I guess I'll talk to her and see if she can tell me what's going on. I just don't really want to get into their relationship anymore."

"I don't think you should." he said. "That's for them to figure out."

"Yeah, I mean if she needs me I'm there, but other than that, it's not my relationship."

He nodded and kissed her neck. "You've got a wedding to plan, anyway."

"It's pretty much all done." she said. "Like I said, it's something small so there wasn't much to plan."

"Good." he chuckled. "I'm excited to see it."

"I'm excited too." she chuckled. "Maddie is excited to just wear a dress and Ajay is ready for the attention from your family." she snorted.

"Well, they've been wanting grandkids for a while." he chuckled a little.

"Welp, they're stuck with those crazies." she joked.

"They love those crazies." he chuckled. "I love those crazies. I love this crazy." he kissed her cheek.

She laughed. "I better not hear you complain about this crazy then."

"I only complain when you spend like twelve years in the bathroom." he chuckled.

"Whatever." she laughed. "I do not take that long."

"I just have to finish curling my hair!" he mocked her.

"...okay fine, but that's only when we're going out." she said. "And we hardly ever go out, so hush your face jerk." she joked.

"Aw, someone's feelings are hurt." he chuckled and kissed her jaw.
