They're Here!

Candice was laying in bed, watching tv. The pregnancy had her very tired so she laid in bed during the past couple of days, just relaxing. The babies had been bothering her today and she felt very uncomfortable, so she thought nothing of it. Well, that was until her water broke. Candice blinked and held onto her belly. "Uh...Jeff!"

Jeff was playing with the dogs a bit in the living room. Preparing everything for the babies and then work had them spending less time with their furry babies so JEff was trying to play with them as much as possible. But then he heard CAndice yell and just ran for the bedroom. "YEah, baby? What's wrong?" he asked. She sounded startled.

"...my water broke."

Jeff's eyes widened. "Oh...OH! Okay! Stay calm! Breathe!...I'll get all the stuff! Just stay relaxed, baby...I'm gonna go start the car and then I'll come get you and help you downstairs, alright?" he said with a big, cheesy grin.

She nodded. "Okay, I'll try to stay calm." she said as she winced a bit at the contractions.

Luckily they knew she was due any day now they already had her bag ready to go. Jeff grabbed it and his jacket and threw them in the car before starting it up. He left the engine running and ran back into the house and up the stairs. "Alright baby...just keep breathing...let's go down to the car...or would it be easier if I carried you?"

"I think...I'll walk down." she nodded.

He nodded, gently putting his arm around her waist to support her back as they walked down the stairs. "I'm gonna call Matt about taking care of the dogs for the couple of days we're in the hospital."

"Okay, good idea." she said. "They're coming, Jeff." she chuckled a bit. "I'm excited and in pain."

"I'm gonna get you to the hospital as fast as I can, alright baby?" he smiled, kissing her temple as they reached the bottom of the stairs. "I'm excited too...they're really coming...and I'll be right there with you."

"Okay." she nodded. "I hope it goes by fast."

"Do you know if you're gonna want the epidural?" he asked curiously. He had no judgement on that...if it's what CAndice wanted to make the birthing easier, she could have it. They got to the car and he made sure the passenger seat was far back enough for her to be comfortable. Once she was settled in and safely buckled in, he actually tumbled over the roof of the car like some cop movie and got into the driver's side. "I've always wanted to do that...it's actually faster." he laughed as he put his own seat belt on and started for the hospital. He just prayed the red lights were not gonna be bad. He handed her his cell phone. "Wanna call the doctor?"

"As of right now, I don't want an epidural...but we'll see how the pain goes." she said, then took the phone. "I'll call." she said as she started to call the doctor and explained everything.

He drove as fast as he could to the hospital and he pulled into the maternity parking lot. "I'll go get an orderly so you can get straight into a wheelchair." he assured.

"Okay." she said as she waited.

He ran out of the car and went into the hospital. He came out about 30 seconds later with an orderly and a wheelchair. Once they got to the car, he turned off the car and took the keys before helping CAndice into the wheelchair.

She sat in the wheelchair and kept doing her breathing exercises which were helping a little.

Jeff took her hand and held it tightly as he kept up with the wheelchair.

"Sir, would you like to fill out the paperwork while we get her situated into her room?" the nurse asked.

HE nodded. "I can go in with her as soon as I get done right?"

"Yes, of course."

"Great!" he smiled, filling out all the paperwork as fast as he could.

As Jeff was doing that, they sent Candice off to a room and got her hooked up to all the machines and stuff. They checked her and saw that she was about 5 centimeters dilated. She still had some time to kill.

He finished the paperwork and the nurses helped him get scrubbed down and put the right stuff on. He walked in grinning from ear to ear. "How you doing, baby?"

"Trying to hang in there, but it's hurting a lot."
