Checking In, Checking Out (Kat&Shannon)

Katrina started at the red brick building in front of her. Riverside Rehabilitation Center. She sighed as she stod there. Her mind wasn't on her metting, it wasn't on her recovery. It was on Maddie.

"Everything will be fine." Shannon said as he stood by her.

"My hotness will cheer her up." he joked.

Kat didn't respond. She just started walking toward the building and through the front door.

The receptionist, Shelby, smiled when Kat entered.

"Katrina, nice to see you," Shelby said with a smile.

"I want the key to Madison's room," Kat said firmly.

Shelby nodded and handed her the key.

"I want to see if she left me anything," Kat said.

"Should I go with you or do you want me to stay here?"

"Come with me," Kat said.

"Please?" she asked.

"Of course." he nodded.

Kat nodded and started walking toward the room.

Room 42B

Kat sighed as she turned the key slowly and opened the door. She was shocked to see the state of the room in front of her.

There were needles everywhere, syringes broken, some hadn't even been used yet.

"Oh God," Kat muttered, putting her hand to her mouth, tears forming in her eyes.

Shannon sighed and wrapped an arm around her shoulder.

"Look at this," she said softly.

"She lost it,"

"She may have, but she can still be helped."

Kat nodded.

She turned to the door to see Shelby standing there.

"It's time Katrina," Shelby spoke.

Kat nodded and turned to Shannon.

"Time to go stand on the chopping block," she muttered.

"Everything will be fine." he assured her.

Kat nodded as she joined her place in the group.

The girls went around telling their stories, then it was Kat's turn.

She took her place at the podium and began.

"My name is Katrina Moore, my drug of choice was cocaine, and i have been clean for eight months, three weeks and four days." "I started when I was fifteen and I just couldn't stop, my parents were the biggest reason I started," "They always compared me to mmy older brother, like I was never good enough for them," "Now I know I am better then they will ever understand," Kat said as she took her seat.

Shannon looked at her, feeling guilty for all her problems. He was the one to blame. His parents gave him their full attention, but never hers.

Shannon stayed quiet as he heard the other girls talk.

After the group was finished, Shelby slipped Kat a piece of paper with Maddie's hospital room number on it.

"See you next month," Shelby smiled.

Shannon waved goodbye and looked over at Katrina curiously.

"What did she give you?"

"Maddie's room number," Katrina said.

"Oh. So you want to go see her?"

Kat nodded.

"Let's go," she said.

"Alright." he said following her.

Kat nodded and headed for the car.

Shannon stepped inside and started to drive off.

"I'm sorry." he said.

"For what?" Katrina asked, confused.

"Being the cause of your problems." he admitted.
