What If? VII

"That I'm not looking to be with a stud or whatever." she said. "The only reason why I even accepted his offer was because after months of waiting for you, I finally got the hint that you don't want me." she said. "So if you moved on, then I should move on too."

"When did I ever say I didn't want you?" he asked.

"You don't have to say it." she said. "Every time you come over or we do things together with Sophia, you barely pay me any mind." she told him. "Which is okay because yes, you're here to spend time with Sophia but I've tried to keep you around and stuff when we hang out together but you never want to stay. So I figured you wanted nothing to do with me."

He sighed. "Ellie, you wanted the break after Sophie was born, not me." he said. "I'm trying to give you the space you said we needed because if I don't leave then I'd do something I regretted."

"I don't want anymore space." she said. "It was stupid to do in the first place." she shrugged. "I just had a lot running through my head at the time."

He sighed. "I won't push you about it now. But we can talk about this when you feel better."

She shook her head and chuckled a little to herself. "Yeah, sure.' she said. "It's time for Sophia to go to bed, so I'll put her to bed and probably call it a night too." she told him. "Go on and say good night to Daddy." she told Sophia. Sophia, crawled over to him. "It." she grinned.

"Be nice." he chuckled and kissed her cheeks.

She giggled and hugged him while Ellie got up to warm up a bottle for her.. "Lub, Da." (I love you, Daddy)

"Love you too, Sophie." he kissed her forehead. "Have good dreams, okay?"

"Mhm!" she grinned as she left a sloppy kiss on his cheek, then reached up for Ellie. Ellie then picked her up. "Well...I guess I'll show you out so I can lock up."

"Don't bother." he said. "We gotta talk."

"Okay then. I'll be right back." she said as she went to Sophia's room to put her in her crib. She covered her up and gave her her favorite teddy bear, then leaned down to kiss her cheek and forehead. "Night baby." she said as Sophia just grinned and Ellie chuckled. She left the room, leaving the door cracked open a little in case Sophia cried or something. She then made her way back to the living room and sat on the couch.

He got to the point. "So you think I don't like you."

She nodded. "That's correct."

"Ellie." he sighed. "I do want you. I've always wanted you. We were fighting a lot after Sophia was born and thought it'd be good to take a break, but I never -wanted- a break."

"So why didn't you say anything?"

"Because El, you seemed like you were happier without me."

"Happier? I was miserable. I was just putting up a front because you seemed to be doing okay. I didn't want to ruin that for you." she shook her head.

He rolled his eyes. "Basically we're both idiots that didn't talk to each other about how we're feeling."

She snorted. "Apparently."

"El." He sighed. "I don't know what to say. I don't want you to ever think that you couldn't talk to me about how you were feeling."

She nodded. "Well, at least it's out in the open now."

"How does that make you feel?"

"Better. I was so frustrated that I kept it in for so long. Plus it makes me feel better to know how you feel."
