The paramedic nodded as they pulled into the hospital parking lot and they took Lacy out of the truck.

"Well you're going to have to wait in the waiting room, we'll give you news as soon as we make sure she's fine." The EMT told Phil.

Phil nodded and sat in the waiting room.

About an hour or so later, the doctor walked out looking for Phil. He found him and walked over to him. "Um, sir... about your fiance. We haven't told her yet, but did you know she was pregnant?"

"Pregnant?" he asked in shock.

"I-I...I didn't know."

"My guess is, she didn't either. She took a pretty big hit to the stomach..." The doctor took a breath. "So she lost the baby."

Phil sighed and nodded as he heard the news. He was definitely in shock to hear that she was pregnant, but was somewhat happy to know. Then the doctor told him she had lost it and he was saddened.

"Can I see her?" he asked.

"Sure." The doctor nodded. "We haven't told her the news yet... do you want us to? Or do you want to do it yourself?"

The doctor nodded solemnly before leading him to Lacy's room.

Phil walked with the doctor and in his mind, tried to think of how to tell her. Once they reached her room, he went to step inside.

"Be sure to take it easy." the doctor told him.

He nodded and knocked.

"Lace?"

"Yeah." She called out softly still resting her hands on her stomach.

"How are you feeling?" he asked as he sat by her.

"My stomach hurts like hell."

He nodded.

"Right."

"Did they say what happened?"

"Yeah." he nodded as he took her hand.

She looked at their hands and back up at him, worried. "What... am I okay?"

"Well...Lace, I don't know exactly how to say this, but I just want you to remain calm, okay?"

"It's hard to remain calm when you say things like that... what happened?"

He took a deep breath.

"Lacy, y-you were pregnant."

Her eyes widened. "What? N-no, I'm on the pill. I don't remember missing a day. I can't be pregnant."

"Please, calm down, I'm not finished and this is hard enough to tell you." he sighed as he caressed her hand.

She had a slight frown as she was waiting for him to continue.

He took in another deep breath and continued.

"They said that y-you....Lacy, you lost the baby."

Her frown deepened as she tried to process this.. She slipped her hand away from his and looked away, in deep thought. Finally she muttered lowly, "I didn't want kids anyway.."
