What If? V

She shook her head. "I've given up on this whole love thing. Every time I think I've found it, it bites me in the ass. Hard." she rolled her eyes. "I attract douchebags or guys that don't have time for me. I'm better off single." she shook her head.

"Not all people are like that though." he said. "I mean, it took me a while to get over what happened but I'm willing to give it another go and take a chance."

She shrugged gently. "That's you. I like being single, I can do what I want, I don't have to check in with anyone to make sure that they're happy.. I can just worry about me."

He nodded a bit. "Well, I can't tell you what to do, it's what you want." he said. "But that guy seems like a tool for letting you go. You sacrificed a lot for him. If my girl ever did something like that for me, I'd have so much love for her and would never hurt her."

"Yeah, well.." she shrugged gently. "Can't win 'em all I guess."

"He's still a moron though." he chuckled a bit.

"I guess it was a good thing, looking back. Now I know that I'm just not cut out for relationships. I mean the one guy that I did see myself with treated me right but was never around. Ironically enough, he was a wrestler." she snorted. "It's easier to stay out of love and not risk getting hurt than to fall in love and get hurt."

"I guess." he said with a nod. "Personally, I'm a risk taker and I feel like if I got hurt that bad, then nothing else can hurt me as bad as that."

"Why would I take the chance to get hurt again, though?" She shrugged. "I don't want to fight, I don't want to argue and I don't want to be ignored. All of that hurts me and that's all that relationships bring to me. So why bother." she shrugged.

"I'm not saying you have to, I'm just saying that sometimes taking a risk may surprise you. You never know what kind of person you'll meet next. Plus, you go on a few dates with somebody and maybe you'll be able to see if they're really worth giving a shot."

She gave him a sidelong glance. "And on that note, I'm going upstairs. I know what you're trying to do."

"What am I trying to do?"

"You know what you're trying to do. You're trying to get me to go on another date with you when I told you I wasn't interested. I appreciate you letting me vent but I'm not doing that."

"I wasn't trying to do that, I was simply saying to give it another chance and to not give up so easily. Honest." he told her. "I don't want to make you more upset than you already are, so I'll let you go and I'll go back to the couch." he said. "If you feel like venting again, just know that I'm here." he shrugged.

"Thanks." She muttered a little and went upstairs, groaning to herself. Why did she allow herself to talk to him?

A few moments later, Scott pulled up to the house and let Ellie out of the car. "So.. that was a little later than expected." he chuckled.

"No problem." he said and went back to the couch.

"Oh you know, just about four hours later." she chuckled as she got out of the car. "But it was nice." she nodded.

"Yeah." he chuckled. "I guess I should end this night on a good note before I walk in to discover that Lacy has killed Punk, so.. can I give you a kiss good night?"

She laughed a bit and then gave it some thought before nodding her head. "Yes you may."

He laughed a little and leaned in to kiss her softly.

She leaned in as well, returning his kiss.

He continued to kiss her for a few moments before pulling away. He smirked a little before opening the door for her. "Good night, El."

She blushed a bit and nodded. "Good night, Scott." she said and headed inside to her room.

"D'aw you guys kissed." Punk teased as Colt came in.

"It's sad that you were spying on us." he snorted as he walked in.

When Ellie walked in, Lacy sat up and threw a pillow at her. "Where the hell have you been?"

"Well I saw your lights when you pulled up and I was going to yell at you. You should have been back by 10 mister." he smirked.

She didn't expect that, so she got hit in the face, lol. "Uh, ow." she snorted and threw it back at her before plopping on the bed. "Making out." she joked. "Nah, we were just driving around and stopped at a cafe. We talked and lost track of time." she shrugged.

"Sorry Dad, but I stayed out a little while longer because I hate it when you and Mom fight." he snorted.

"Ugh, because of you I had to talk to Punk." she rolled her eyes. "Nathan called me and pissed me off and I ended up somehow ranting to Punk. Now he knows all of my business and is gonna try to be all friendly tomorrow."
