Finding Out in Person

Ellie had texted Lacy the day after she got engaged and asked her to meet her at the local diner. She was going to share the news of her engagement with her...so that she knew this time and in person, lol. Last thing she needed was Lacy getting mad at her. She was seated at their table, waiting for Lacy to show up.

Lacy showed up a few minutes later and was seated with Ellie. "Hey, El."

"Hola." she chuckled. "You're late." she joked.

"I have four kids." She smirked.

"Fine, fine. You're excused." she laughed.

"So it's not often that you call me for lunch... so what's up?"

"Well...I had spent the night at Scott's place and then yesterday morning, we were talking and joking around and then well...he proposed to me."

Lacy arched a brow. "Excuse me? What?"

"He asked me to marry him." she told her as she bit at her lip a bit.

"I... okay." She nodded. What kind of reaction, lol.

"Yeah." she said. "...I said yes."

"...oh," Lacy said. "Well... congratulations?"

"Yeah, thanks." she said. Awkward, lol. She just looked at her menu. "Uh so....what are you planning on ordering?"

"Well I have to say after that announcement I don't have much of an appetite." She admitted with a small snort.

She sighed. "Why not?"

"Ellie." She ran her fingers through her hair. "I'm really glad that you're happy. But I'm not going to act like I'm happy about -who- you're engaged to."

"I figured." she said. "I have to respect your decision and just accept it." she nodded. "I guess asking you to be a part of the wedding would be too much to ask? I mean it's no time soon, but...yeah."

"If you want me to be in the wedding, then I will be."

She nodded. "I just want to make sure. I don't want to force you into it, it's just...you're my best friend Lace and I want you to be there and support me. I feel like I finally have the right guy in my life and I'm extremely happy."

"And I'm happy for you." Lacy told her. "And I'll support you, and only you."

"Well then, that's all I can ask for." she told her. "Thank you Lacy."

"You don't have to thank me," Lacy said. "No matter what my feelings towards Scott are, I'm not going to sabotage your relationship."

"I know and I would never think you'd so something like that. It's just...I know you'd rather be like...a football field away from him and on that day, you'll have to be close." she chuckled a little.

"I'll run out as soon as you guys say I do." She chuckled.

"Deal." she chuckled. "I'll pretend like I didn't even see you." she joked.
